The Effect Passing thru by Kevin Parker

This instructional video teaches you how to visually push a real coin through the bottom of a real glass bottle, leaving it inside. They watch it melt through the bottle's bottom, leaving your hand and falling into the bottle. They don't see it just 'appear' in the bottle, they watch it melt through. The bottle is then handed to spectator for inspection and to keep.

They won't find any holes or gimmicks anywhere on the bottle. This instructional video, taught by the creator himself, will teach you everything you need to know to perform this illusion. Upon learning the secret, you will immediately want to rush out and perform it

Cost $17 (about £10) available from http://www.kevinparkerproductions.com/p ... 0thru.html

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1 - Really easy. On the same level as Coin in Soda

Review
I got this a few days ago and to begin with I wasn't too impressed (I was a bit naffed off that I had never thought of this!). But after performing...I love the thing!

The Gimmick is easy to make and the material(s) you need to make it can be bought pretty much anywhere...costing no more than £1 (I had them already after a bit of hunting).

But finding a suitable bottle is not the easiest thing...they are out there, but it did take me a few hours to get the what I feel to be the best one! The fact that the bottle can be examined before and after the trick makes it a winner for me as the spectator is left clueless as to how you did it.

I have not performed this with a borrowed bottle yet but I can't see it being a major problem.

The ditching of the gimmick is made easy as there is a big "off beat" giving you the perfect time to do what you wish with it.

I always tend to be disappointed with downloads because you don't get anything physical and the anticipation of waiting for the post to arrive is lost...but that's just me. This one made up for the lack of touchable goods in the reaction I got from my brother when I did it for the first time. He is usually quite sharp on these kind of things but this baffled him.

For £10 its quite a good effect to have in your locker. I would recommend this to anyone amateur or professional.

The video could be a bit more condensed as it seems to be a bit all over the place in terms of scripting (there clearly was none!) but this doesn't detract anything from the effect as what you need to know is taught well.

Overall
10/10 for ease of performing
7/10 for value of money

Passing through

Nice review. Is this any different than Abyss: The Ultimate Coin in the Bottle?

I also struggled to find a price on Kevin Parker's website. 10 squid sounds pretty reasonable.

its not worth £10 to me, i thought the effect was pretty poor and not convincing at all.

What are your actual problems with this effect? Whats not convincing about it?

Did you try it with any spectators? The effect is not convincing the performer as they know whats going on. I thought it was pretty lame and obvious until I tried it out on my brother. Everyone I have shown it to has been left dumbfounded.

Just want the people out there thinking of buying this to have all the views possible. Plus I may be able offer some advice with the bits you find unconvincing...if you want it that is!! :)

To me, the teaser looks very convincing. Just a few questions...
The first is, can teh coin be signed? Secondoly, is it very "angly" and thirdly, are wine bottle ok for this effect, or is the indent in the centre a bit of s struggle?

the coin cant be signed
its fairly angly, not too bad though, best have people in front of you
win bottles are not the best, probably could be done, but cheaper bottles work better.

Hmm, it looks so good though. I am always disappointed when i find out how simple the tricks are but for this one i just can't work it out and i don't suppose anyone (if i bought it) that i'd show it to would be able to either.

Spot on. I was disappointed but it IS a stunner. I did it again today in the street to some random people and one of them just ran away... the others were stunned. I let them keep the bottle which is an even bigger convincer that it is actually impossible.

Tommy, i'll probably get this, i need to wait to get some cash first though but could you pm me some answers to my questions? Like, which bottle do you use for the trick? How simple is the trick really? Can people or have people found it out easily (when you have performed it)? How easy is it to get rid of the gimmick? And finally, what extra things do you need to go along with the downloadbale trick. (Eg. Materials of any sort, anything that makes up a gimmick.)

Thanks

I use a glass bottle of juice I got from Aldi.

The trick is really easy to do as it said in my review.

No-one I have shown it to has sussed it out.

The gimmick ditching is easy. Just time it with the off beat...not difficult at all.

Materials to make the gimmick will be found in any houshold. If not, then they are easy to get hold of. If you cant find the materials to make the gimmick then....well I don't believe anyone couldn't get hold of what is needed.

Hope that helps.

So, does it matter which bottle is used, do you NEED to have the top?
And to me, that infusion trick looks like he just quickly hooks the coin up :? I still much prefer this coin thru bottle. You can see it melt through!
