Can't stop looking a that pic and wondering if you can shot lightening bolts like a sith lord

Your post was edited a bit to preserve the basis of the effect but, as with all things of this nature, you should be careful and be very sure about the person you're using the item on. The same would apply to things such as The Web, or anything involving bursting a balloon - not good for those with weak hearts!

Electric Touch provides a mild to sharp static electric shock like you receive in the winter when sliding across a vinyl car seat and then touching metal.

Obviously you would not knowingly shock someone of a nervous disposition or TRY and "zap" someones pacemaker. It seems (according to what I have heard and read) that you would have to put in some SERIOUS effort to try and adversely effect someone physically with this level of static electric shock... not one little "POP" anyway.

The device itself CAN give the user a hell of an unpleasant jolt if you use it incorrctly (as I did when first playing with it) but this level of shock would be extremely difficult to carry out upon a spectator. The contortions you would have to go through to acheive this would see you either in a hospital with groin strain, in jail for "decidedly unusual bodily assault" or in a mental hospital owing to a reported psychotic break-dancing "episode".

I have yet to hear of a single lawsuit or even of any real complaint from the use of Electric Touch and let's face it, magicians are the biggest "fish-wives" on this planet, so we would have heard.

If you were to use common and good sense, are sure your spectator is of good humour and is relatively chilled out, I'm sure you'ld be fine. If in doubt...don't.

The rig you see in the photos is there for Earthing only. This modification simply allows the unit to work more efficiently NOT in a manner any stronger than it is designed to. This also allows me to set the unit to the lower setting so the effect is still there without making people hit the ceiling!

I just afraid that ET could be harm to magician health, because he wear it and conducted ever more than the audience.
The audience only shocked for a short time, but magician was unawares that an electricity flowing in his body.

There are only two things I can suggest if you are THAT nervous about the effects of a static electricity device...

1) Speak with a doctor or scientist who knows everything about the subject to address your concerns to your satisfaction.

2) Do not buy or use any device such as "Electric Touch" or "Shocking".

As I have said before...I have heard no "horror stories" regarding either the users or spectators in connection to the use of "ET" or "Shocking". My (personal) understanding of these devices and of static electricity is that if used as outlined in the instructions and with good sense they are a safe thing to work with.

These are just my opinions of course.

I am really considering this now. I have a few questions though.. Tom can you clarify some of the preparations you've done to your shoe / the switch? I am just curious as to how necessary it is as well. I like the idea of converting it to a toe switch though.

Has anyone picked up the accessories package? Is this worth it too? It's pricey enough, but I wonder if it would add significantly to it.

Finally does anyone know where I could get a hold of the P.E.T.S. way of setting this up?

the forum that had the rather lengthy thread on the pets setup seems to have gone. Possibly due to continual flame wars kicking off. whether it will be back i do not know.

As for the accessories, it is an extra set of something that comes with the et.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

Why does everyone ask the same question instead of reading? It gives you a mild shock the equivalent of dragging your socks on a carpet and touching someone. Think of it like a tounge on a battery but a tactile shock. It is not scarey or painful, it's just something that can add some magic to an effect. It runs off a battery source too small to cause any considerable pain/damage etc.

Think of it like flash paper. Used properly, it adds magic to the effect. If you use too much you can burn your house down. The difference is you can't do the latter with the ET.
