Asher Twist - Take 3

Postby stevebo » Apr 18th, '06, 22:46

Ok, here's my final upload for the Asher Twist. I'm hoping this is better now. I added an Elmsley Count to it also. Any comments welcome!

And by the way, this is my so called "XCM deck"...

Enjoy!

Greatly performed!
Good points:
-Smoothness, it looks very natural!
-The count is, indeed, well executed

Bad points:
-Lighting ... but hey! let's not take this one seriously ;)

Thanks guys! Yeah, apologies (sp?) about the lighting.. I can never get the lighting to work the best especially with a £10 webcam.

I like it - I have always been a fan of this trick myself, and love to watch it being performed. A shame about the lighting, but it was perfectly executed - I never thought of adding an elmsley. Well done!

Love

Thanks! And yeah, Chris, I didn't think of it until I was practicing it! I actually thought the Elmsley was done too well but your the specs! :D

Hey SteveBo, nice card work as always. But about the lighting. I think the problem is that the auto exposure in the software is overcompensating for the fact that the majority of the image is rather dark. A cheap solution to this (hopefully) would be to get a scrap board of wood about the same size as a large close up mat and then cover it with a bright colored fabric that contrasts with the cards and put it on your lap. Colors like orange, light blue or light green should work well. That would force the exposure down a bit. An old t-shirt would suffice for the fabric.

Wow, you must be getting really famous now Steve...characters from the WWE are appearing in your magic videos. What an honour.

Your well practiced technique will fly by anyone who doesn't know the trick already (just look at some of the responses you've had here). I'm sure you've already had good success with this amongst you regular audiences, and I can see why - very smoothly done.

I've never thought of using the Elmsley though. Nice idea. When I found a problem with the transition between phases I found my own way around the counting of the cards before the last card turns over (though my idea was not original, according to Lee Asher himself it is one of the many idea Wes James had to avoid the counting of the cards).
