Evmeister's Triumph

Postby magic_evmeister » Apr 21st, '06, 15:42

This is a "Work In Progress" of a triumph routine I've been playing with.

http://media.putfile.com/Evmeisters-Triumph

Dunno if this has been done before but it's new to me. I apologise for going off camera whilst doing one of the cuts, if anyone likes and understands the routine and would like to know more about the cut I used then just ask. It's similar to the trinary cut but modified specifically for the purpose required here.

All comment/constructive criticism welcome.

Yeah it's very good. The only thing that could be improved (for me) is the righting of the deck. I like (just preference I guess) for the deck to appear to right itself instantly. Maybe if, when you take the deck back, you give it a casual hindu shuffle as you talk, then half pass the bottom half?

I like it though. :)

That is brilliant! When I watch videos, I ususally at at least have a feeling to how they are done. This one has me baffled!

Brilliant!

Cheers guys. I was actually thinking about including a half-pass instead of the funky cut. I'm gonna start audience testing it soon so I'll be interested to see which one goes down better.

I have got it know  Its still an amazingly strong Triumph. I think it is probably the 2nd best that I have seen. The best one I have seen is this one: http://www.magicvideodepot.com/view.php?a=v&t=5697

What makes your one so strong is that the cards are seen face up and face down. Excellent trick by an excellent bloke

Thanks guys. This is a real pleasure to hear that one of my ideas has gone down so well. In fact, I've tried this on two people so far and neither of them had a stronger reaction to it than I've had from other people to any other versions of Triumph I've used. Most often I use Sankey's "Back In Time" version.

To me this seems like a good version of triumph to use for magicians. There are some fine magicians here who have quite outspokenly said that it has fooled them, plus however many others haven't directly implied it in their posts (or haven't even posted). I never anticipated this kind of reaction from established magi, but I am certainly pleased with it.

This is the second trick I've created (whilst I'm sure they're not completely original) that has fooled a magician or two - The first trick was my "Impossible Do As I Do" which I've spoken about in detail in the restricted area. I only hope this isn't the last.

The best part is, although the actual routine is something I've grown to like more and more everyday, i thought my performance of it was quite poor.

Hmm yeah, when I start Out of This World, I start by showing them mixed or whatever but it has no extra impact on people, usually they jsut take it for granted that it's mixed.

I only do 1 triumph routine (Daniel Garcia's Red Hot Mama's Triumph) and I don't really manage to convince myself that they are all mixed face up face down, but so far I haven't been called on it. But because of this I only like to keep it "mixed" for a short time, incase they say "hey let me see!". Your method is good because that is the way I would show the cards, if I had just mixed them face up face down.

Good job mate.
