Penn & Teller on FX+1 (18/5/06)

Postby Flash » May 18th, '06, 23:23

For all you lucky Sky viewers out there at 12pm till 1.10 tonight (18/5/06), "Pen & Teller's Bullsh**!" is on FX+1...

I think the second one is about fake pschics, no idea what the first one is about, but is probably going to be quite interesting.

(for those of you who haven't seen this show before it is Penn & Teller's debunking slot and although not restricted to magic subjects cover anything they fancy ranting about).

I saw this series last year and although I can't fully agree with some of their points of view, it's still interesting stuff. Dear old David Icke and things like Magnet Therapy came in for a bit of a bashing (understandably) and they also included Reflexology and Aromatherapy which aren't usually classed with the daft stuff. Personally I can’t see how massaging the feet can do much other than give your feet a good massage but that's just me. The concept of rubbing the foot to specifically deal with a problem in the shoulder is weird and I often wonder which bit of the foot they rub if you have a problem with the foot. Nice aromas are good and far better than foul ones but again that's about it. Where I thought they were off target was with GM Foods - they made some good points about safe modifications but seemed to imply that all modifications were therefore acceptable - not so. The one defending the frequent and very public use of the F word was a very boring programme and didn’t really prove a point other than some people swear more than others! The prog where everyone was naked has some very basic attractions, of course!

I understand that they did a second series but no transmission details have been released yet. The BS web site rather unhelpfully states that details on the site are for access by US viewers only - which is daft because the programme is being shown internationally!
