i was sitting on the bus home earlier practicing my coin vanishes when a man with a guide dog got on and i started wondering if there was any way you could perform magic for somebody who cant see.

just looking to see if anybody has any ideas for tricks that dont require sight

I know you can get Braille playing cards but I can't think of any card tricks at present that can be done by feel not sight.

This page shows a good picture of a Braille playing card

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

Umm...

true.

A very simple and short sponge ball.

So i take one and he takes one. Mine jumps to his hand.

He'd have to trust you a little.

But he could feel the 2 sponge balls there after.

Thats a hard one.

You could try mind reading, if you master this.

But I don't know if it works on blind people...

Fielding West talks about a show he did one his double disk dvd. He did this show at a school were half the kids were deaf and half were blind. he says the deaf kids explained to the blind kids what he was doing. He brought a dog along and pretended he was blind for a bit. He tied the dog to the table and at a pre-arranged point, his friend shouted the dogs name and off went the dog with table, props and everything. He says they loved it

It's a tough one, but well worth putting some thought into I think people you performed for would really appreciate the effort. I'll have a think...

Sorry. I just don't buy it. A bling guy is not going to be fooled by magic. It is just all too visual a medium to work for anyone without sight.

I suspect there is even very little - if any mentalism that would work, as you still need visual verification that nothing sneaky happened.

MagicDiscoMan - I suspect your friend is just humouring you?

Many magicians have done material successfuly on radio including John Wade, David Berglas and others. I know Dunninger had a radio series at one time.

If you can do magic on the radio you should be able to do magic for a blind person. It would take a bit of thought though.

I saw Chan Canasta work many times. I think his work could well be appreciated by a blind person as it was cerebral rather than visual.

And there was that trick on the magic of jesus where Barry and Stuart made a blind woman see (although not sure if she was actually blind to begin with)

its all about presentation.

I think cold-reading whould proberbly be the most effectiv and give the most suprising effects.

Im not a good enught preformer to think abouy anything else right now, but i bet you some radio talkers could help you come up with somthing.
