Well, its my 21st birthday on monday so, naturally, we had a big barbeque at my house and there was plenty of 'fluids' last night.
I have performed for people before at parties but, for once, i had actually planned a bit of a routine to show people. I say routine, i mean i worked out the tricks that i wanted to perform.
I first showed a friend of mine Card in Hand, followed by here then there from the Crash Course 1 dvd. His reactions alerted everybody else tot he fact that i had my cards and they came over. I ended up performing a few tricks for about 25 people, and thats the biggest crowd i have ever performed for! I normally have my hands shaking a bit when i perform, but for some reason i was completely calm! Maybe it was the few beers i had already finished off but it felt like it was benefiting my performance!
Anyway, i showed them Here then There once more to a different person, and then went straight into Mercury! I have never performed this effect in this kind of situation before but i was surprised about how good the reactions were! All 25 people threw their hands up in the air and started to scream! Its an amazing feeling! I have gotten the bug and now want to do it all the time!
Their reactions for Torn were a bit strange. Half of the people just stared at the card and the other were freaking out and jumping all over each other!
I also did a few other effects such as a signed card to spectators pocket that i developed my own handling for. The guy looked at me like confused and told me that i must have made a deal with the devil or something! It was great!
Also, a full ACR that i kind of made up on the spot with a Paperclipped finisher, a few simple coin tricks, and Healed and Sealed which i bought the other day! Its amazing how emotionally attached people get when it involves beer!
Anyway, that my birthday party story. I enjoyed performing and its only furthered my thirst for magic even more. No doubt i'll be writing up another story soon because i cant not perform anymore!
PS. Has anybody got any suggestions for tricks to do when out for a meal at a restaurant or pub? Not cards preferably because i dont really like to get them out at the dinner table. Thanks for any help!
I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...
