I'm off on my holidays now and will be back in about two weeks and so I wanted to wish all you guys still monitoring this board all the very best for the coming year and I hopoe you have a greeat Christmas.

I for one will be going up to London to be with the family and generally bouncing from one set of parents to another. In between there will be a lot of fun trying out my average magical abilities (mainly for the kids) and I have one or two major stunts planned for a party this Saturday night. All being well I,m going to push a card through a window and flip coins over in peoples hands with my new PK toy. All my mates up in London (and they're the really trendy type... unlike me!) only have the briefest idea of my interest in Magic and so I intend to blow them away with a few well practised effects.

Wish me luck!

Once again I hope you have a great Christmas and I'll "see" you in the New Year!

Cheers... Tony :-)

Hi one and all...

MAY I BE THE FIRST TO WISH YOU ALL THE VERY BEST FOR THE NEW YEAR!

I hope you all made a fool of yourselves over the holidays, whilst at the same time sharing out mutual passion with the masses!

If anyone has any interesting magic related stories that happened to them during the holidays I'd love to hear them!

I hope you are all well and here's hoping 2003 will be a good one!

Regards... Tony

Welcome back Tony,

Happy New Year to you as well.

I got a chance to perform a short close-up set (card to impossible location, spectators find aces, hold it buster, and red see passover) at a New Year's Eve dinner party (in-laws... tough crowd) and killed them all -- even the guy who tried his best to screw up everything I did (father-in-law).

Later, at the REAL party, it was business as usual (ambitious card, card to pocket, bite out coin, you know... walk around stuff) with the unknown partiers who just freak out and begin worshipping me. "better than David Blaine" was the catch phrase of the evening.

But... the VERY BEST MOMENT of the whole night was a few hours into the New Year and I was at a gas station with a really irritated clerk who got stuck with the New Years Eve shift. There were only a few people in there so I did a short ambitious card type of thing and the clerk actually forgot about his misery and smiled a great big smile from ear to ear.

*sniffle* *wipe tear*

Now THAT is why I am a magician.

Sounds like you enjoyed yourself!

As for me, alas I didn't get the opportunity to do anything other than mess around with my Brother-in-Law and that was about it! I did have a kind of mini routine planned for a Christmas party I was going to at an old friends house, but it wasn't to be. You know sometimes how you get a vibe that it is better to not do any magic... or maybe I'm just making excuses! :-)

No but truthfully, I had hoped to do a few card tricks, but it wasn't appropriate. I feel happier saving my “ammunition” until a time that I feel it IS appropriate.

Anyway I'm waffling!

Happy New Year and I hope you have a good one!

... Tony

There is nothing wrong with that... I hope you don't feel bad about it. I think it takes alot more self control and discipline to NOT do magic. Especially when it seems like the timing isn't right. Also, you mentioned earlier that your friends didn't know your interest in magic so they probably never "helped" with making the time right.

I have made the mistake of trying to compete with a game on TV or something else when doing magic and it isn't pretty. You are right to wait for the "moment."

I could use that kind of control and judgment.

You call it control... maybe it's fear!!!

Anyway, you are right and I am happy I did not do anything.

BUT GOD HELP THEM NEXT TIME!!!

It is such a shame this board is as dead as it is. There was a time when new posts were going up almost every hour, but just look at it now!

Laurence is the owner of this site, but unfortunately he has other sites to maintain and I gather a number of them are not related to magic. I have spoken to him on a number of occasions and he genuinely seems to want to promote this board, but I think with him it is just a question of getting time to do it. I must e-mail him sometime to see if I can persuade him to perhaps direct his customers to this board. After all, there must be some financial benefit to nurturing a group of magicians via a well run forum. That's part of the reason "Ellusionist" has prospered for example.
