I think that this trick is very good to do at a party and to let people tell you that your shoe is untied then preform it. This way to get a much better reaction and the effect is a lot better than just going up to someone and saying do you want to see.....

I bought this effect and would like to post this review.

Self Tying Shoelace by Jay Noblezada

Cost: $20.00

What you get:

DVD- A Complete teach in session by Jay Noblezada. Jay meticulously covers every aspect of performing this effect. Jay covers the use of the gimmick, the exact timing necessary to accoplish the illusion and the misdirection which is employed at the crucial moment. Noblezada teaches many different methods of set-up. He discusses the types of shoes, as well as which type of long pants to wear.

The DVD is very well produced and everything you can learn about the STS, is on this disc.

Booklet of Instructions- The booklet covers the entire set-up for STS and how to perform this illusion successfully. There are detailed illustrations to help with visual learning. The text is in BOLD print, making it extremely easy to read.

Gimmick- Very well constructed and should last quite awhile. With regular use (no over abuse), the gimmick will work for many, many performances...without needing to be replaced.

I must say, that this effect looks like real magic. It's a well thought out illusion and it packs a wallop on audiences.

Should nobody notice that your shoelace is untied...I think that the performer can get around that...by employing subterfuge.

STS is a very good effect, and you get a lot for $20.00

If you don't own this yet...you should!!

Great trick - Don't worry about the noise - wear jeans or heavy material trousers. Light material trousers dont muffle the noise much, and to be honest, unless your performing this in a library or a morgue.....there will always be suffucient background noise to cover the sound....if any (the gimmick is practically silent anyway)

All close-up / street performers should own one of these. Or two even, why not, you've got two legs!

Its cheap, looks cool, and makes people think they've just witnessed something impossible.....the esence of good magic!

regarding the noise (being as vague as possible, if still too close to exposure, please delete mods cheers), tear off a small piece from a sponge and put it at the top.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

No worries at all with that I think. As for noise, I find two things to work reely nicely... first one is tiny o-rings (go see a mechanic) and the second one is ptfe based grease.

:D

I am guessing it makes it last longer too.

The part that you strap to your ankle which holds the claw can chafe a little, and I've found that moving the magnet which pulls the claw to the other side of the ankle helps re-distribute the weight.

The STS

I love this 1. The sound from the gimmick I cover up by kicking my leg really fast & vigorously. The result is an even louder sound than the gimmick. I like to untie it right in front of the spectators so they are double-stunned. It tells you how to do this correctly in the booklet.

No gimmicked shoes, no gimmick laces, no tricky moves. Only a small, unnoticable (unless you`re wearing latex or skin tight jeans) gimmick. Oh but I had to go out & buy some new laces, but that was because the sample 1 they give you was`nt the color (black) that would look good w/ my shoes  . They send you a white lace to practice w/ just in case you need it.

....i agree, i dont know what all that ankle claw & magnet stuff is all about. That has got nothing to do with the Self Tying Shoelace! Dont get put off by the idea of having too many devices and magnets to contend with.....there is no such thing. The self tying shoelace gimmick is a single device. Just add shoelaces, and your good to go (the one they give you to practice with might suit your needs) but I prefer to buy my own to use with this trick.

Well, everyone else decided to add comments about 'tight jeans', 'noise' etc.

So I thought I would add some ridiculous statements of my own.

I guess some people haven't been at TM long enough to follow the general sense of humour yet.

As for:

When I first recieved this from penguinmagic I was dissapointed only because I didn't figure it out on my own first. So I began sulking over having paid mainly for the secret. The gimmick itself is inexpensive if bought in a regular store and I had to come to terms with giving the creator his due. After I finished pouting for having felt jipped which took me several weeks I began to use it and I do like it very much I get great reactions I decided I needed to own two for the typical response "do it again" I am glad I own it but I still think it was a little pricey for what you get. at least I was able to aquire the second one much cheaper.but credit to Jay for the effect is impressive if performed well and since he came up with the concept he deserves some profit so in my opinion this is a fun one to own and after deep thoughts on it I have changed my original opinion and would now say it's worth the money. I have had alot of fun with this effect and telling specs it took years of practice to learn it and some I let in on the secret by lying and saying I have hidden weights in them LOL

....and to me, THAT'S worth the price...NOT the "bits" you get.

If anyone else comes up with an effect that works that well, YOU deserve to make a bit of cash for a flippin' good idea as well...not just for the purchase of a simple ratchet and thermo-coupling!

If we can hit that bullseye then the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... Checkmate!
