Does anyone have this book by Banachek? It looks good, and Teller (I'm assuming the Teller from PandT) says it's good. If anyone does have this, can you compare this to explicit content? I'm interested in both, but can only afford one. Thanks

PS is one of the primary books one should study if holding an interest in Mentalism BUT (and I must stress this) if you have not studied Corinda, Fulves and Dunninger you will be hurting yourself by jumping ahead to this level of thinking. Though it can be "stand alone" stuff, I find it works best if you have some solid meat to go with the potatoes.

Thanks, I'm new to mentalism, just some Sankey stuff and stigmata. I guess I'll get EC then.

Psychological Subtelties was the first book I bought on mentalism I bought. I hadn't really had much interaction with mentalists and had no idea where to start. I thought I'd dive in to the 'real psychological stuff'. I was really disappointed with the book - I didn't get the point. There were a few things I could relate to but I really didn't get what the hype was about.
Fortunately I met a few people who were able to guide me in the right direction and I started at the beginning - Corinda etc. Now - two or so years down the line - the book is really starting to make sense - and it is gold :)

One thing I haven't pointed out is the fact that PS routines aren't bits that work 100% of the time or even on everyone. I know of many in this business that avoid it just for that reason (they still think like a magician and want magic that happens without fail vs. mentalism where the random miss can actually add to the impact of what you do.)
