Effect You show your hands empty on both sides, hand out or borrow a deck of cards to be shuffled and ask that a card to be chosen and placed on top of the deck. one question i have with this effect, does the card float on its own or is your hand held directly over the card like with other floating card effects?

the card will float on its own.. a card can be passed all around the floating card

Very good illusion, but be careful against dark backgrounds.

I'm sorry to dig up such an ancient topic, but this is a great trick. I got the downloadable version of it the other day, and it was great. I think it is Eric James teaching on the video, and he does a brilliant job of it. He is very clear in explaining what is required and how it must be done. The effect is excellent as well. I have only performed it for friends and family so far, but even the reactions from them, as I wave another card around the floating card, is incredible.
A definite 10/10 from me. Very simple and easy to do, but incredibly visual and effective. I should be ordering some other effects from Expertmagic soon, so I'll try to add either my own reviews or comments on other reviews of each of the tricks.

If I want to buy it, do I have to order the "gimmick", or is it like a create-your-own-thing? Does anybody know?

No gimmicks, the trick is that you need to know the secret ancient voodoo spell for card levitations. This can usually be found at your local library.
