yes make a poll about it and see what people say...
i know for a fact some of my posts wouldnt be considered 'quality posts' even tho its not intentional tho so how would you define quality posts |

| i dont think it should be determined on all posts as on the occasion you will just give a quick answer to a question or ask for a piece of advise, just so long as you can see that the"poster" has a sound general knowledge and that they are not just out to expose all of the secrets kept within. |

im not just posting to get into the magic section, i want my 10% discount as well , i hope most of my posts are helpfull, though i appear to be a post hogg at the moment i feel i can contribute.
having had 15yrs of and on experience with magic from table hopping to stage (no tv exposure yet).
5yr of which has been comercial.
your system changed on me a few days into my postings on your old site.
i am happy to post untill you see fit to let me in wether that be 50, 100 ect.
I'm just as happy to get the discount on my larger orders, I'm going from close up to stage / parlour magic in my shows so will need any discount i can scrounge.
am i motiveted yes am i greedy yes, will i post regardless of the outcome absolutely.
will i be banned for post hogging probably |

|
|
I TOTALLY agree with Tony. There has to be some kind of test other than posting 50 blurbs -- I am amazed at some people who already have 50 posts up in two days.
When I first came to this discussion forum, there was sort of an e-mail interview about my magic work and knowlege before I was allowed in and this made me comfortable enough to start sharing my "secrets" with the other REAL magicians.
Now, all that I posted will be available to anyone who can make 50 comments and that really IS a shame -- I have been to other discussion forums where the number of posts made determines whether you are a magician and they are filled with tons of meaningless comments from people who are trying to build their total number of postings.
This discussion forum is truly a great asset to REAL magicians who can gain advice and tips/subtleties or helpful patter ideas. Please do not open it up to the whole world by placing "50 posts" as an obstacle to access the secrets. Doing this will flood the regular discussions with drivel and expose the secrets that the REAL magicians work so hard for. In my opinion, that would take a really great thing and make it...... less great.

ok my next statement is really gonna close the door on me getting in but how about having an email application AND the 50 QUALITY posts and maybe submission of a trick or effect made/created by the person trying to gain access? _________________ Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989.. |

I'm with you mog, dam i was so close to getting in only 5+ quality posts and i was thier.
i hate interviews, ok here goes ive been doing magic off and on for arouund 15yrs, 5yrs comercialy.
ok you take this coin pass it into your other hand and it vanishes only to appear........
it dosent matter how you do it somone will abuse the system.
making 50 posts for 10% discount is still a lot of writeing especialy as your posts are moniterde for quality and content.
as i understand it 50 posts is the bench mark to see if you can hold interest long enough to be considered, then you will be judged on your merits.
you don't automaticly get in after 50 posts
which means i wont be in for several years to come.
but the money off idea suits me fine. |

I am not sure where you are getting your information and maybe they have changed things since three days ago when I got this in my e-mail, but the actual words were:
Restricted areas

Only members who reach "Full Member" status will be granted access to the restricted areas. Any member reaching this level (50 posts), will automatically be granted access.
This was the correspondence I recieved when I was notified of my membership transfer from "the old forum." |

all im trying to say is that just getting 50 posts does not make one a magician, I'm reasonably new to this, i think ive learned a lot but theres a hell of a lot more i dont know so why should i have access to a "secrets" area just because i can type 50 posts? id like to hope i still get my discount( hehe) but as for entry i havent earned that right yet _________________ Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989.. |

its still up to the moderators to make a final desision on your suitability.
50 posts is just the bench mark.
some old members have been credited posts for thier contribution to the last forum.
i hope i get in
incidently is lawrence about or getting his e-mails i have a question about my order. |
