I voted for "OTHER."
I believe that the only way to determine if a person is a real magician is to ask them specific questions and see how they answer them -- like an interview.
I say "like" an interview because it would have to be conducted through e-mails and then I suppose people might be able to falsify, however fewer people would try knowing that it wouldn't be easy.
I know not every magician is knowlegeable in every area of magic but a few questions and answers should make it clear whether a person is a REAL magician or not. I was asked questions (like what tricks do I perform and what sleights do I know) to gain access and I was happy to answer them. What REAL magician would object to that type of thing?
Also, I believe that the access to the secrets should be tough enough not only to keep nosey laymen out but to make the REAL magicians comfortable knowing that their
secrets are safe here. Only then will they share the secrets that they have worked so hard for.
After all, to learn a sleight and perform it regularly takes alot more work than 50 posts -- the fact that some people already have 50 posts up here in two days is proof of that. I'd like to see someone learn and perform ANY sleight in two days. It just doesn't happen. There is only ONE thing that makes a person a REAL magican and that is PRACTICE. No magician would disagree with that and the REAL magicians who PRACTICE their art will be easy to spot. First, they won't have time to make 50 different posts in two days.
