Wow this look like an amazing trick. Is it at all angle sensitive?
I would think about doing this to my wife to be next year at my wedding on the dance floor

You will be fine with angles, this is all built into the performance and handling. I should also point out that £16.20 is a VERY good price, some dealers are charging up to £18.95, so i would get one from NUMS.

Ok I think it's time for my first review. I 'll try my best (please forgive any typos or mistakes since english is not my mother tongue language)

Title : Rose from a Card

Cost : £14.50 @ NUMS

What do I get :

- Deck (printed on bicycle stock)
- Artifical red rose
- Booklet (glossy) with instruction photos in color
- Extra card to use for other effects

The effect :
The magician spreads out a deck of face-up cards and shows the spectator that the cards are normal. He says to the spectator, "Say stop when I flip through the cards," and when the spectator says "stop" the magician slices the deck and shows the card. The spectator is asked to remember the card.
As the spectator puts the card back, he says, "I'll find the card you just chose by its smell." Bringing the deck in front of his nose and making a gesture as if he is smelling the fragrance of the card, the performer cuts the deck in the middle and places the lower half on the top of the deck. The top card is flipped over, and the spectator's card is revealed!
The magician then says, "Is this your card? Give me your hand." He rubs the card on the spectator's hand, and when he flips the card over there is a rose on the back of it. Spreading the entire deck, it is revealed that a rose has been printed on the entire deck that was not there before! Finally, the magician spreads the deck over the spectator's hand, and, as he splits the deck in half, a rose drops out onto the palm of the spectator!

Difficulty :
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

If you are experienced 1. Otherwise an easy 2-3 since it requires some basic sleights (all taught) that anyone can achieve with some practice.

Performance demo : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFoleTyxSfw

Target audience : Weddings, your wife (/fiancee/girlfriend/mistress/etc) that complains about your tricks, your mother on mother's day, the grandmother that you forgot to visit for some time , girls/daughters/nieces/etc. , you get the point...

Reset : Pretty fast but I wouldn't advice repeating it instantly

Examinable ? : You can't give the deck for inspection, however you can spread the whole deck and it will appear perfectly normal.
The rose is a nice little artificial rose (you can use your own or even a real one) and you can leave it as a souvenir.

Review :

During a CUPS rush I was browsing through NUMS and noticed this trick. It looked really interesting and since I wanted a trick that my wife would really like and i liked the effect and possibilities I added it to my basket (along with some other stuff even though my original intention was to buy just a King Size TT, but that's another story). The service and prices from NUMS were perfect as always.
The effect is really strong and has the "wow" factor especially for the target audience (quite obviously it won't have the wow factor for your "beer-and football stadium" buddy).
The booklet is really nice in good quality glossy paper with 29 detail photos in color. If you know your basic sleights (nothing fancy some easy ones) you can perform it with just a little practise. The deck is in bicycle stock so no question about the quality here.

To sum it up :
A solid 9/10. Bicycle deck, a rose , nice booklet and a nice trick that you can easily perform for less than 15 quid what else do you want ?

This item seems to be out of stock or Discontinued everywhere, can't also find it on NUMS anymore.

It was still available last year and i decided to put off buying it for the moment at the time, but now I can't find it anywhere as I was hoping to get it for christmas.. sad...

Anyone know anywhere or any site that still has stock of this trick, please do let me know or pm me, much appreciated it will be.

Some one else asked this a few months ago and it seems that the effect is now discontinued, even the guy who developed it can't supply any more.

Oh NO!!! :( sad.....

I guess the only option for me now is to buy blank bicycle deck and print the cards one by one... shouldn't be too difficult to modify it in photoshop... but it's gonna be hell lot of work printing the cards...

It's not a bad trick.. but i guess the reason why is that you can't perform it too many times to too many ladies... otherwise you might get in trouble with your gf/wife.. maybe it's not selling as many as they wish? .. too bad it's discontinued :(

This trick can be angle sensitive at the point of the rose production but not for the handling of the deck.

And remember - the plastic rose if for practice only and you should ALWAYS use a real rose for the performance. There's nothing worse than giving a plastic rose to a girlie and then having to ask for it back

Lomster would cut you off at the knees

I don't think that the trouble of printing a deck is worth it for this effect as I bought it an I wasn't that impressed to be honest about it.

I wasn't aware that it had been discontinued.....

Yeah.. true indeed... ladies probably won't be too impress with card trick with a rose...

I would say napkin rose and floating rose to real rose production with a romantic candle light dinner would be much more special and better remembered :)... probably better off spending the time to practise this routine than sitting in front of the pc printing cards.. :P

And after production of one rose, under the cover of a large silk, production of a large bouquet of flowers which was secretly loaded to the back of your chair with the aid of the waiter :P maybe that would be a nice wedding proposal.. OPPS.. where's the proposal ring!!?? i forgot to buy the ring, too busy perfecting my floating rose routine.. LOL..
