Rose From A Card

Postby Stephen Ward » Jul 22nd, '06, 11:08

The Effect

A lady is choosen to assist with the effect. A deck of cards are shown face up, all is normal and the cards are all different. She chooses a card and it is seen to be regular with a back and face. you tell her you will find her card by smell. You smell the deck, cut the cards and her card jumps to the top of the deck. The card is rubbed on your hand and when turned over it has a rose on the back. The deck is now spread and a rose has been printed along the face-up cards. When the cards are taken away an artifical rose has dropped into her hand!

Cost

£16.20 from www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk

Includes the deck printed on bicycle stock
Artifical red rose
Glossy booklet with photo instructions.
Extra card to create different effects.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1 very easy, a little practise depending on your experience.

Review

When i saw this working a while back i knew i had to got one of these.I do not normally use these kind of decks but this effect is so strong i had to get one for myself. The effect is very strong and so easy to perform. The moves are taught and many people of all abilities will probably already know these moves. You really do not need too much practise on the card section. The production of the rose may take you a little bit of practise but you will soon be performing this. This effect is so strong that you should not perform this to anyone untill you are completly smooth with everything.

As the cards are on bicycle stock you know you are getting a good quality product. You cannot hand the deck for examination but as we all know they are simple ways to hand the deck out if you really feel the need too. The instructions and photos are very clear and well written. I have seen many awful booklets in the past on normal paper with blurred photograhs, luckily this is not the case here. 29 photographs guide you through the whole routne. You also get another idea for an effect and of course the bonus card can be used for creating your own magic.

This is of course ideal for weddings. I think the bride will love this effect and this is going straight on my new promotional DVD!

Overall

9/10 what a fantastic piece of visual magic for the ladies. Easy to perform, looks great and people will love this. Should not be repeated to the same group as this will kill it. Save it for a special time in the performance. When done at the right moment this will slay them.

Now, hurry up and get a deck from our Seige before he sells out! come on what are you waiting for

I am going to look in Poundland, the roses are not special at all, just get one the same size. There is also another idea on there, i thought of vanish a ring, do the card trick and when the rose is handed out there is a ring inside. I am sure it would not take too much working out

Excellent review on what sounds like an excellent trick. Hummmm CUPS

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

Good review...I think there's something wrong with NUMS though...Whenever I try to click on the Rose From A Card icon, I go to Vapour...And whenever I try to watch demos, I'm always watching one from a different trick.

Thanks,
Dominick

does this require a huge amount of misdirection?

Answers:
1. Yes, the link goes to Vapour... not a bug, just me not spotting the problem

2. The deck is semi examinable... I've performed the effect by letting the spectator shuffle (in a controlled way)

3. You can use real roses, and if you're considering handing out souvenirs this would be the way to go

4. There's not really much misdirection needed, as this is built into the flow of the effect

Oh, and furthermore, I've sold out this morning! Will be ordering more, but the demand on this has been insane.

That's a beautiful, gentle and truly magical routine - such a welcome change from the wham bam thank you Ma'am hit and run type magic which seems to be considered the norm these days. I'd have serious difficulties with the spiky haircut but it's all still very tempting indeed.

This effect sounds very powerful and yet somewhat simple. I think I might have to pick this up, especially since you can use real roses and hand them out, what a smooth way to leave your impression on a person. Thanks for the awesome review.
