Name In The Flame

Postby Stephen Ward » Jul 24th, '06, 21:08

The Effect

You tell a story of the Power of a name using Voodoo (i won't go into all that here)... A card is freely selected and put back into the deck. A indifferent card is given to the spectator to hold. They write the name of their card onto a piece of paper. The paper is burnt and when the card in the spectators hand is turned over it has changed into their selected card.

Cost

£10.00 from www.blackhart.co.uk

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review

What really impresses me about the Black Hart Products is their simplicity. Many of the effects simple need a strong presentation. When other creators try to be as flash and complicated as possible the Black Hart keeps it simple. He also keeps it real, this is a real World effect that can go straight into your act without any problems. The script provided can easily be adapted to suit your style. It is ideal for both static and walkaround peformances.

The package contains :

    Instructions / script
The special 22 Major Arcana tarot cards
A pack of paper needed for the effect.

The effect is of course so simple to perform and is very entertaining. Most of you will be performing this in minutes, others may need 10 - 15 minutes practise. A very nice routine for beginners and professionals. A very good script is supplied with the effect.

Overall

9/10

EDIT: Just been looking at their website, and it's fantastic. I've been looking for a shop like this for a while now.

Cheers steve

Just a quick question is the effect examble i am thinking of getting this and "close to death" I have a routine set out where i go in to the haunted key , this and finish on close to death.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Thats it Mr Ward add fuel to my C.U.P.S :P

I do like a lot of that stuff on the site now if he could come up with a book test using the satanic bible or the necromonicon or even one of crowleys book you would have a great resource of all things esoteric.

:D I was talking to a pro who is a friend of my brothers I wont name drop, basicaly i knew he knows them they mix in the same kinda circles if you know what i mean (not magic ones) anyhow i called him said pro was there and his is like such and such is here do you want to talk to them (first time we have spoken) anyhow they was saying this type of stuff aint great for comercial magic but is fun to perform. But i myself was thinking that if you start of with some Classic effects and just add more bizzare things in to the mix. Do a kinda "do you want to see something a bit more darker" then lead in gentley i think you can fit keiths effects in. All so if you ever get a halloween booking or a goth club or some one wants something more out there to be performed.

I do commercial bizzare bookings all the time, at the moment they are more popular than regular magic. The market is out there.

Yeah i think theres a market for everything now days, even an old fashioned dove type stage act. I know i do card manipulation as often as i can. But Keith Hart will be getting my hard gotten cash. To me the bizzare type magic seems a lot more I want to say real because you can draw on the old stories and myths of ages gone by. If that makes sense, I love sponge balls I think they are great but something like "Close to death" has so much more emotion added to it. And once emotion is invested effects become alot stronger. Like was discussed using some one card from there deck for warp one.

Ha! Corporate function - reception. Watch the close-uppers hanging about and trying to break into groups of guests who are talking to each other, to show them some magic. They have to look busy.

Then look at the chap sat at a table in the corner with the tarot cards - he has a queue of guests all keen for a reading and some psychic insights! He IS busy.
