No it can't you have to use a 50p

At the end of the routine you can change the coin to anything you want, but the initial change etc is 50p. I personally don't like the idea of changing it to another different coin it stops you carrying on using them or the extra coins you can get for another trick.

I get over the fixed choice by explaining how different the 2 coins look (which would work whatever country you were in), the different shaped of the coins is what sells this, everyone that sees it is blown away and thats no extageration.

The Ninja coin is designed to transform into a 50p coin in the first phase, but there really is nothing to stop you just skipping the first phase, and have the coin transform into a coin of your choice (or the spectators). You could then repeat the second phase to have the coin transform back into its original state. You get two ninja coins in the set, so just introduce the second ninja coin, and have the first one 'copy back' to it.

I've gone into the second phase right away, on a few occasions, where I've wanted to build the ninja coin routine into a larger presentation. But to be honest, skipping the first phase really is a bit of a waste of a great magicial moment. Its pretty easy to build in a reason for the first change, into the story of how you 'came across' the coin in the first place.

ninja coins

Postby Whisperrs » Jan 5th, '07, 03:19

I have used these to great success, my opening line is to mention I bought them off a chineese man in china town and that us magicians like chinese coins as they have holes in and we like to do tricks with coins threaded on ribbons or string, this draws attention to the holes without physically pointing them out, as i have found the odd person has thought the trick was done by turning the coins over, but when i have mentioned (without showing them again) that they had holes in, they again look amazed. I am planning on buying a couple of extra ninja coins with es's to hopefully turn this into a great transformation and vanish routine.
I really rate this a 9/10 and would agree that you need not try to enhance the trick further by trying to modify the coins yourself, Ive done this about 2 dozen times now and only my closest friend (who of course i trust, and test all my tricks on) spotted what was going on.
:-)
