Bicycle Masters Edition

Postby rattlestar » Aug 17th, '06, 09:03

Yet another deck released by Ellusionist going for $3.99 each.
From what I can see is that the cards should handle just like a Viper. I personally don't like really stiff cards like ghosts/tigers/vipers.
I wish they could just make it the same quality as a regular deck of bicycles.

What are your takes on this new Masters Edition?

I think the whole point of it was to look pretty much identical to a pack of Bicycle cards, but to be of much better quality. I must agree with their comment about the poorly cut edges, there is quite a rough texture to the sides of the cards nowadays - and that Ace is something else - but I think I'll stick with my regular cards. I sure as heck ain't paying £21 for twelve packs of the cards, not just at the moment anyway.

But yeah, it's a neat idea I guess, and quite ironic that they've been made by the USPCC - at least there's more of a point to this pack of cards.

Well, let's see, $11.97 for a bundle of three, and you're going to want at least 5 bundles.

I would suggest giving that a pass and picking up a copy of "The Vernon Touch" with the money that you've saved.

In 20 years, the decks will be gone, used up, but the book will still be there. Along with the book will come an invaluable amount of wisdom and truth and, with a small amount of care, will last you for the rest of your life.

Mike.

It certainly does sound like yet another deck for fashion victims. Surely a completent card worker should be able to handle any deck.

How long before we see:

'Rope - The Masters Edition' finely made from only the rarest of fibres (fibers for our US readers!) woven in controlled temperature and humidity environments by hand by dusky maidens who are innocent of the avarice of the world to ensure you get the perfect rope for Professor's Nightmare, Rope Thru Neck and also to hold up your jimjam trousers. Available in red, green, yellow and natural at only £25.00 ($36.00) a yard - complete with teaching DVD on basic knots for sailors.'

Is it just me, or does he sound like he is getting an orgasm over a deck of cards?

Tee hee. He does sound a little bit pervy, doesn't it. I couldn't see any dribble at the corners of his mouth, though.

It may take a while due to serious shortage of maidens who are innocent of the avarice of the world etc.....

Actually, and this is kinda sad, but I have some of that rope. Now, don't you laugh, dammit.

I found this little hank of rope on the ground, near a forested area. I don't know how it got there and I don't know where it came from. But it is the nicest piece of rope I've ever gotten my hands on and if I could find out who the hell the manufacturer is, I would buy a huge amount of it and market it to magicians, because it is just that nice.

It doesn't crimp. I mean, it absolutely doesn't crimp. It hangs nicely, regardless if you've had it all jumbled up for a long period of time. Yes, I've actually experimented with this piece of rope. Now, I don't believe in anything, much less visitors from outter space, but I'll be damned if I don't think that this little hank of rope came from outside of this world.

I have yet to see anything that matches it (and I come from a water bound background, almost growing up on a boat - fish was a staple in my family). I have searched most every place in my home town, trying to locate anything close. No luck.

It is synthetic. That is a down side, really, if you like to cut your rope. But, who actually cuts rope anymore? Even if you did cut it, it is still rope. It would be a reasonable expense in a regular, paid for show. Even the amateur would have little apprehension at simply replacing this stuff - it's rope. And it's not like it unravels except over extended use (which is why, being synthetic, you melt the ends shut, like you'd use Elmer's on a cotton one).

It is the ultimate magician's rope.

(yes, think you did just hear an orgasm)

Go ahead, laugh. If you had this rope in your hands, you would cry...

Mike.

Oddly enough, I got a ME set of Bikes, and they are great. So great, I've ordered a block to put on NUMS.

They handle beautifully, and I must say that they were totally useable out of the box... sleights are a pleasure with this deck.

I wouldn't say I came close to 'climax', but I sure was impressed.
