Volume 1 is a great start for the budding magician, it covers all the technical terms and provides a solid basis for the rest of the learning. I would advise this volume, but if you are an experienced card magician you could probably skip this volume as darly spends alot of time going through definitions and catd terms, which you will already know if you have been working with cards for a long time. On the other hand, it could well expand your knowledge of cards, Darly certainly taught me some stuff i never knew prior to watching the video. A good starting point for the series.

VOLUME 2

Introduction; The Jog (Continued from Vol 1)-Automatic Jog #2; Automatic Jog #3; The Natural Jog; The Dribble Control; The Simon Card Control; Daryl's First Card Contro; The Automatic Jog Control (Paul LePaul); The Dribble Touch (Daryl)

The Strip Shuffle;(Running Cuts); Standard Technique; Top Stock Control (2 methods); Bottom Stock Control; Full Deck Control

False Cuts; Raul Posini False Cut; Frank Thompson False Cut; Daryl's Crazy Cut; Optical False Cut; Retention of Vision Cut; The False Swing Cut.

Volume 2, a good continuation on volume 1, expanding on the 'jog' and other techniques. This volume explains one of my favourite card moves, running cuts. I think they look really good in card magic and darly thinks the same, as he teaches all the moves needed to complete the cuts, as usual while darly shows you how to do it he makes it look unbeliveably easy, but with his simple but effective teaching methods he makes it simple to learn.

VOLUME 3

The Glimpse/Peek; Hindu Shuffle Glimpse; Bubble Peek; Thumb Count; Phantom Peek; During Table Riffle Shuffle; Bottom Card Buckle Peek; X-Ray Vision (Arthur Buckley); A New Glimpse; Step Peek

Trick Break; Whispering Queens; Fan Peek (Arthur Buckley)

The Key Card; Trick Break Gray's Speller; Methods of Using the Key; Card on Top of Deck; Dai Vernon's Method for the Key Card; A Miracle Discovery; Explanation of Gray's Speller; Methods of Using Key Card on Bottom of Deck; Cirrus Card Trick; The Sliding Key Card.

Although this volume doesn't look like it contains as much content as the other volumes, i think it is still an important addition to the series. It shows a few nice false cuts (continued from volume 2) and a few good shuffle techniques, a few for practicality (i.e for forcing a card) and a few for show/looking fancy. I enjoyed this volume even though the content was not a high as some of the other volumes.

VOLUME 4

Locator Cards; The Crimp; Oops! (3 variations); "Stranger" Locator Card; Pencil Dotted Card; Short Card; Narrow Card; Concave Short Card; Corner Short Card (2 variations); The Tuned Deck (Burling Hull); Broken Corner (Ted Annemann); Thick Card (5 variations); Coin Impression Card (2 variations); Different Shades (3 variations); Punched Card; Long Card; Old Card in New Deck (2 variations); Slick & Rough Cards; Different Finishes

Multiple Card Controls; The Multiple Shift (Dai Vernon); Carmen D'Amico Touch.

This volume is one of my favourites, due to all the differnet forces it shows, once again, very easy to follow learning by Daryl. He shows all the forces in 'real time' before he explains them, and he is so good, even though you know what is coming you can't see it. He then breaks each move down and shows every component of the sleight involved. This volume is not only great for learning, but also just a pleasure to watch. Highly recommended.

VOLUME 5

Multiple Card Controls (cont'd from Vol 4); The Multiple Shift (Arthur Buckley); The Multiple Shift (Frank Zak); The Multiple Card Control (Dai Vernon); Multiple Hofzinser Card Control

The Spectator Peek; Psychological Play (Cy Endfield); In the Hands Riffle Shuffle; The Multiple Peek Control (Dai Vernon); The Peek Force; The Multiple Peek Force (Eddie Fechter); The Glimpse After Spectator Peek; Step Glimpse 1-4; The Pressure Fan Peek (Ed Marlo); Step Glimpse 5 (The Spring); A Deceptive Crimp Location (Paul LePaul); Another Peeked Card Crimp

Hartman)

Multiple Lift Touches; The K.M. Move; DL Clean Up (2 methods); DL as a Force, Switch, Glimpse, Reverse, False Count, Vanish, Change, Pseudo Second Deal, Pseudo Bottom Deal, or Pseudo Middle Deal

The Secret Reverse; The Braue Reverse (Fred Braue) (several variations); DL Reverse I; DL Reverse II; DL Reverse III; The Larreverse (plus variations); Trick Break; The Primer Aces.

This volume teaches one of the most important moves in card magic, multiple lifts, and with Daryls methods of instrution, and a little practice, you should have them mastered in no time at all.

VOLUME 6

The Secret Reverse (cont'd from Vol 5); The Larreverse for Several Cards; The Action Reverse (Steranko); The Steranko Center Reverse; Flopping the Deck (The Roll)

Vanishes (from the deck); The Vanish (plus variations); Vanished and Reversed Speller; The Rub-A-Dub-Dub Vanish

Miscellaneous Palming Techniques; A Useful Aquitment (Paul LePaul); Methods to Help Conceal Palmed Cards; The Bottom Card Steal (Paul LePaul); From the Verstaile Card Control; Replacing Palmed Cards (from the Gambler's Cop)

Trick Break; The Out of Body Experience (Daryl); Replacing Palmed Cards (to the Top of the Deck) (4 methods)

Producing Palmed Cards; From the Packet (plus variations); From the Card Box; From your Hand (plus variations)

False Counts; The False Count for More; The Walking Fingers Count; The Double Push Off; The Buckle Count (plus variations); The Al Baker False Count

False Displays; The Flustration Count (Brother John Hamman) To Show Identical Backs, To Show Identical Faces; To Double Black Cards; The Rumba Count (Jean-Pierre Vallarino) To Show Identical Faces; To Show Double-Backed Cards.

In volume 6 Daryl goes into a lot of detail on how to do counts (mainly false ones). The way he shows and explains is very good, foe example, he cuts the deck into 3 packets and wraps them in different coloured paper so you can easily follow the (false) count, which otherwisr is very difficult to see.
The palming methods are again very good, with daryl incorporating tricks and ideas into the learning.

VOLUME 7

False Displays (cont'd from Vol 6); The Olram Subtlety (Ed Marlo) and variations; Eight-Card Brainwave; The Elmsley Count (Alex Elmsley) and variations; The Jordan Count (Charles Jordan) and variations; The Hamman Count (Brother John Hamman) and variations; The Gemini Count (Brother John Hamman) and variations; The Last Trick of Dr. Jacob Daley; the D.M. Switches & Changes; The Mexican Turnover; The Mexican Turnover Top; Change Second Deal (Daryl); The Diminishing Lift (Marlo); The Curry Turnover Change and variations (Paul Curry); Blackjack Cheating Demonstration; The Emergency Change (Daryl); The Push In Change; The Slide (Arthur Buckley); The Kosky Switch (Gerald Kosky); The Tip-Over Change (Jack Merlin) and variations; Han Ping Chien Move with Cards For the Unambitious (Ed Marlo); A Different Top Change (Arthur Buckley); The Throw Change; The Instantaneous Change (Paul LePaul); The Paintbrush Change (Dai Vernon) and variations; The Snap Over Change and variations; The Marconick Change and variations.

The description is pretty self explanitary here, there are some very nice moves in here, even if you don't need to use them in any tricks, then they are great for just showing off to friends and collegues. Another good volume with some really intresting content, especially the different changes.

VOLUME 8

Switches & Changes (cont'd from Vol 7); The Flicker Change (John Cornelius) and variations; The One-Handed Bottom Deal Change (Daryl); The Eidetic Change (Marlo/Cornelius)

The Top Change; The Mechanics and Several Tips; Several Methods for Misdirection; A Different Grip for the Top Change

Flourishes; One-Hand Cuts (2 packets); The Cannibal Card Cut; The Reach Across Cut; The Stretch Cut; The Pivot Around Cut; One-Hand Cuts (3 or more packets); The Triple Charlier Cut; The Triple Reach-Over Cut; Daryl's Super Duper Cut; Miscellaneous Flourishes; Daryl's Hot Shot Cut; The Frank Shields' Four-Card Display; Making Double-Faced & Double-Backed Cards (peeling cards).

Volume 8 is by far my favourite volume. Daryl goes into detail on how to do loads of differnt cuts, and then, once he has explained the different cuts (including the Darly fancy pants cut), and taught them in great detail the last thing he teaches is how to do the famous 'Daylys Hot Shot Cut'. Daryl explains thi so well, my friend and i watching the tape were on our way to mastering it after only a few hours! he literally is that good at explaining the moves.
At the end he shows how to 'peel cards' meaning how to take the top and bottom faces of the cards off, this is a bit obvious really and not that intresting, but hey, everything else is perfect so i think i can let him off!

All in all an EXTREAMLY good series which i wouldn't go without. A must have for all magicians.

Thanks,
Kevin

On looking over the very detailed contents there seems to a great abundance of sleights and very little in the way of actual tricks. But then I suppose this is justified by the title so I suppose I can't object too much. Mind you I think you can get by very nicely with only about 5 card sleights. In actual fact you only NEED around 5 sleights or so to be a good entertaining card magician. It doesn't do any harm to know more of course and can even do a bit of good providing you don't get carried away into a world of finger flinging just for the sake of it. I have mastered rather a lot of card sleights myself but my attitude is that they are only a means to an end and that it is actually detrimental to be skillful beyond the bounds of necessity. No time to explain why but take my word for it. I do know everything after all.....................
