the buying slash selling blacklist

Postby Lawrence » Aug 21st, '06, 14:44

the recent change in the buying and selling from this site has changed a lot of the problems i was going to rant about but there's still a couple i'd like to get out in the open.
could we get a Blacklist? a list of people who have in some way conned a member out of their hard earned money; or someone who has put something up for sale, taken payment then never sent the product.
of course we couldn't just name and shame people in a thread that would undoubtedly turn into a massive arguements thread so if someone has done you wrong it would have to be done through PMs to Mods then they could form a list in a locked thread.
just a thought (can anyone tell I'm having trust issues at the moment?)

It would have to be done by mods as IPs would be the only way to block someone from selling. This is already done in a way as bad sellers are blocked from the whole site...

There may be legal ramifications for this!

I think that telling the Mods and for them to keep a private and undisclosed list would be the best solution if that's they way they wanted to go.

They could watch out for further posts by someone in particular and edit them. However, does this really happen enough for it to be worthwhile?

In my own experience I've only been ripped off once by buying from someone on TM and I should have known better to react to someone who only posted a couple of times.

Whenever I've purchased from established members I've had excellent service and have posted at the foot of the for sale post so everyone can see that the seller has delivered so that others can make an informed decision if they want to buy in the future.

Maybe it would be better to have a good sellers league table rather than a bad sellers one? That way you stay on the right side of the law and don't get any threats of action from solicitors etc.

Again, you have to look how often this happens, particularly now that all for sale items are vetted before they get posted.

we tried this before and i made a pigs ear of it, i forgot some nice people i bought from and they were justafiably not best pleased especialy as they gave me good feedback.

since its now vetted i think we needn't worry and if any sellers are not happy they can always pm the mods for a swift and complete reply.
