Overall
This DVD is entirely custom made from Dan and Dave, with interactive menus leading to flourishes and videos. This DVD is most probably the best magic DVD ever produced beacuse of the sheer look.

Dan and Dave are still upcoming stars in the world of magic, but they have some really sick skills, as well as card flourishes they create just about anything to do with media. (DBsquared)

This one DVD has lead me to creativity with unique card flourishes and different card magic, I really have to put it to Dan and Dave. This DVD is revolutionary and if I gain a large reputation in the Magic and Flourishing community or even as a magician, it is solely from this DVD.

For the first time from any of my reviews, I give this a 10 out of 10.

They should put a warning:

"YEARS OF PRACTICE REQUIRED"

Actually its not as hard as everyone makes it out to be.

This does not take years of practice, anyone can learn the stuff on this DVD within a week, a couple of days if your familiar with the moves.

But you have to get your hands used to doing it, until you can do it without thinking, once you get to that stage, you slowly improve it and make it faster.

I recommend this DVD to anyone who knows some Card Flourishes or Sleights.

Although if your prequisite is Brian Tudor's "Showoff Tapes", then you should whizz through this no problem. :D

Just curious... How many of the eighteen flourishes have you mastered so far and in how long time?

I had learnt all of them after about a week of the DVD. The 2 one handed cuts are msot probbaly the hardest ones on the DVD.

As for mastering the flourishes, I have most of them smooth and fluent, but every now and again you always improve with speed and fluency.

Its like learning a magic effect or move, you learn it and its takes a few days to get to a considerable standard, and then you gradually improve it over time.

That sounds cool I was wondering if it was something like Brian Tudor's DVDs where retailers put out a warning, not to buy the DVD, because they received so many complaints from magicians.

DnD stuff is great! And the majority of it isn't too hard, especially if you already know some stuff like the charlier pass and basic sybils.

I've only been flourishing for about a year and a little bit and I'm fairly good. Not as good as Tom just because I don't practice as much as you! You younger boys have more time than me! Have A levels and uni stuff to apply for leaving me with less time with my cards :(.

PenguinMagic.com has a warning under Generation Extreme with Brian Tudor (DVD):
Warning: Don't buy this DVD. Almost no one can actually do the stuff you're about to see. It's aggressive, showy, complex, impossibly fast, and freakish. Once you master it, your spectators may notice only one tenth of what they're supposed to see... and only one one-hundredth of what is actually happening. That's no way to live... pick up a svengali deck and be happy.

All of which I believe is not true, anyone can learn the stuff off that DVD it just takes time depending on your prerequisites.

Okay my flourishing profile.

The first flourish I learnt was the Charlier Cut and that was some time early 2005, I left it there.

Then Mid 2005, a friend showed me Kevin Ho's freewebs site. It had some simple cut on there that involved the Charlier Cut and some things like the fan drop, I practiced for a while and learnt most the stuff off the site, So I was then doign around 5 different flourishes.

After seeing Kevin's site, I saw The System. But it was a while before I ordered it, as I don't order too often. So I bought the DVD in January 2006.

And basically it has just gone from there. I only consider myself to be flourishing since owning the system so that means I have been flourishing properly for around 8 months.

Like Steve said, it depends on your determination to get these cuts done; if your a very bored person or travel a lot, you can take a deck of cards with you and play with them as a way to stop your boredom.
If you play with cards for liek 2 hours everyday, you will soon master the cuts on this DVD and develop your own.

But another thing I would like to add, playing with cards has stopped me eating lots of messy and greasy foods which are the kind that are fatty and not good for you anyway. When I'm playing with cards I don't feel like getting up and grabbing a bag of crisps because my hands would be all greasy, then I would have to wash my hands which would then have to be dried for me to use cards.

Its brilliant. :D

Well, in my point of view, I don't really like the Dvd, even though you can adjust the angle and the speed, but they don't really tell us the important point to speed up our learning. you will need to watch the moves over and over again for you to do those flourishes and pick up our own point to do these florishes that can be wrong or right and also it does need require ALOT of practice.
but the practice is all worth it...

I recommend this DVD for those people who likes challenge and flourishes.

but one more time.. NEED ALOT AND ALOT OF PRACTICE TO DO JUST ONE MOVE.

I say, Zetley, would you mind popping along to the introductions forum and, well, interoducing yourself. You see, no one knows what your experience of magic is from your posts s ofar, and you're not likely to get much in the way of friendly replies if they don't.

I brought the dananddave system about a week ago and i still cant do any i think the reason is even if you slow it down its still to fast for a newcomer to these type of flourishes to pick up the handling. So im still trying to go through them one at a time once i get a bit more practise i think ill get there. If your an absolute beginner to thes type of cuts i think it will take about a month to learn the first cut you attempt properley but then the others will follow quickly. If on the other hand you have some knowledge of these cuts i think you will pick it up very quickly.
