With the alternative handlings supplied, is the White Star method going to be a benefit (have neither, am trying to consider which to buy)

Cheers

No there isn't unless you purchase it secondhand, I believe he is shut due to him getting married, so you will have to wait until he re-opens I'm afraid.

You won't find this for sale anywhere else as I believe Dan makes them to order. (Unless you find a secondhand one, of course). Looks like you may have to wait until March; it's worth the wait, though. :)

Dan's off arranging his forthcoming Wedding so unless it's auto download PDFs, there's no way of getting anything from Lebanon Circle for the time being, sorry. Version 3 is well worth waiting for as the photos and presentation of them is superb.

From Hell

Postby Dantes1976 » Jul 15th, '09, 18:49

Hi everyone im new here. I appreciate all of your expertise.

Is it worth obtaining white star to apply the handling of it to From Hell or is there another handling you would recommend? Also, how do you present From Hell in terms of the 15 victims of Jack the Ripper when historically although its ambiguous there aren't usually this many.

Any of your thoughts are welcome.

I just ordered From Hell 3 today and I can't wait to get it. It definitely looks like quality apparatus. I think the piece would definitely be a lot more authentic and less "campy" looking if the photos were simply large photographs instead of being fixed to cardstock with printing on it, etc. Still very cool nonetheless!

One question I had for you guys, regarding the included PK Gimmicked Victim Card is, will I need to purchase a PK Ring or anything to be able to use it?

Thanks.

A PK ring or something with similar properties will be required.

Woah, never seen this before.

Had a look at the deck online, struggling against my will power to resist! Truly grizzly though, did I read correctly that it uses real mortuary photographs?

I am a total sucker for anything dark and spooky like this. I did a little 5 minute set for some friends on Halloween with Karnival Midnight and Ghost Decks for a spooky touch, wish I had seen these a couple of weeks ago. What a climax that would have been!

It's really worth every penny. Everything for Lebanon Circle is beautifully handmade with a lot of attention to detail. I got this about a month ago and I'm still working on getting my presentation right; I think I might have worked out the first line of my script. When you get your hands on as beautiful a set of gear as this, you only really want to give it the best presentation as possible.

The mortuary photos are reproductions of the actual case photos from the Jack the Ripper case and like the other photos that come with the set are printed on photo paper to give it an authentic feel. The other photos are, from what I can tell, reproductions of various real victorian ladies so I personally feel its appropriate to perform this with a very real sense of reverence and respect towards the pics.

I know when I feel confident enough to perform this, hopefully if I create the right atmosphere, it's going to go beyond spooky and into the realm of pretty damn scary. As I said, I'm really only going to do this when I can give it the respect it deserves.

I have the first version and it's a really popular routine although it works best in an intimate setting due to the size of the photo's.

If versioon 3 uses larger cards as it appears to do then I think that this wold be elevated to a good parlour routine too.

One hint to you all - like Whitestar you should give some carefull thought to adding some artifacts to use in your presentation.

I read somewhere else in this thread, where someone said the handling used in White Star is more convincing. Is that so? If so, I would really appreciate it if someone could share the alternate handling with me, either via PM or email. :D It would suck to have to buy an almost identical piece just to get the handling... :(

Dat, what sort of artifacts do you suggest and would they serve any other purpose in this piece besides adding to the atmosphere, etc?

And. yeah... I'm hoping to be able to get more mileage out of this piece than residential gigs, without having to use projection screens. I perform "In Lizzy's Hands" on special ocassions and I intro it with photos from the murder scene and newspaper clippings, which play on the projection screens to the infamous "Lizzy Bordan Took An Axe" song, as I tell the story. Very eerie and ominous! From Hell would DEFINITELY be an even much more worthie piece to elevate to that level when performance conditions allow! As we all know though, more times than not, our client's budgets don't always allow us to present our magic in it's best form... :( These photos seem to be large enough that it could be pulled off fairly effectively in a decent size cabaret setting.

I can't wait till this package arrives, so I can get busy on it!
