WARPONE

Postby dat8962 » Sep 18th, '06, 20:51

The Effect

The blurb from the packet.

WARPONE is a completely re-wired version of Roy Walton's classic Card Warp. The big news? David removes the cover card and performs the entire illusion in full view!

WARPONE uses a single card from a normal deck...held out at the very tips of your fingers.

You fold the card in half then simply wave your fingers over the card and the single card visibly turns inside out: First half the card, then the other half (both sides are shown), then the card turns completely inside out and then back to half and half. Each stunning visual change happens with a single normal card held at the tips of your fingers!

You end with the classic Roy Walton ending by tearing the warped card in half and handing out the pieces for examination.

David Ren Jenkins Warp One is a visual treat. The moves are completely invisible. The handling is a downright joy to perform.

All you need is a single card and your bare fingrs to permanently warp your audience's reality.

Includes David's special handling for restoring the card.

Cost

£17 ish from most places. i picked my copy up today from http://www.mikedanatasmagicstudio.co.uk

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

2 for the routine - some minor sleights with the fingers.
3 for the restored version (not revealing more on this one  )

Review

The intro is quality - worth watching the man on the hill right through  Past this there are three sections:

Watch - a demo of the effect taking around 20 seconds to perform. WOW! VERY crisp and visually stunning. Got me all excited  You see, I know how Card Warp works (and looks) and this just looks so different!

Learn - this section is self explanitory. Click on this and you get a really nice drop down menu for the effect and then for the restoration. Each option can be broken down at the click of your mouse and yes, the guy's still dancing on the hill  (funny  ).

The explanation of WARPONE is in three phases making it easy to learn each phase spearately. The depth and detail of the instruction is very good, as is the quality of the recording. Lots of good camera angles used to demonstrate. The misdirection used is all in the hand movements, a bit like simfull but with a card. I estimate that it WILL take about 30 to 45 minutes if you're a fairly experienced card worker and perhaps an hour or so to perfect. The small detail that's included of how to performance WARPONE is rather impressive.

The technique is very angle proof and once learnt and perfected it's amazingly visual. I don't think that you would EVER perform Card Warp differently to this again!

Now for the restoration! I likened this DVD to Colour Fusion in that there's a simple and a hard version but virtually everyone only performs the easy torn card version of Colour Fusion. However, the restored version of WARPONE is by far much simpler to perform and takes this effect to a different level. I thought that the technique was simply awesome and with confidence you won't have ANY problems performing this version.l

THIS IS WHAT MAGIC SHOULD LOOK LIKE!. What's the betting that Blaine will be performing this on his next TV special?

Another good point in my opinion is that I really don't believe that you will be able to learn WARPONE from watching it over and over again. The technique is that stealthy so all you skin flints-out there will have to get your wallets out!

Finally, the basics chapter tells you about how to prep a deck, how to force the card and how to perform WARPONE with a business card including the restoration.

Overall

Get this now before it sells out!

I think that this will become a best seller! One of the best card effect DVD's that I've purchased in a long time! SERIOUSLY GOOD.

I KNEW THIS WOULD BE GREAT! Thanks for the review Dat! I wanted this effect to be kept quite low profile but.... since you said it in the review... lol.

Hopefully I'll get mine tomorrow! It was dispatched today :D.

This effect has actually got me really hyped up! I've never felt like this for any other effect or product. Let's hope this is gonna be GREAT like your review! :D

I'm assuming that the DVD quality is good too. I've seen alot of dbsquared productions... let's hope it lives up to its standards!

How did you manage to get it faster than me?! Unless you bought it directly from the shop...

Maybe a bad question due to the effect, but I just wonder, if u get a gimmick/gaffed card, or could you borrow the card (without switches) and do it with that card?

Forget I asked. It hit me that this is a borrow card effect.... Its just a single card variation without the second card,,,, ok
