Seventh Heaven
Encyclopedia of Impromptu Card Forces and...
Ahead of the Pack

Prices - £28 onwards..
Difficulty - 2-3
From: http://www.alakazam.co.uk/acatalog/Hot_List_3.html

Right you 'orrible lot...how dare you not review these books!

Tsk tsk, anyway, all three books are genius...that do you?

Well, it's pretty hard to review indepth to be honest. The ingenuity of this material is breath-taking...

All high quality books, from their bindings to the words that make up the pages...

So, what does it cover? well, its cards mainly in all three. There are also center tears, stream lined handlings of old gems, some jokes to break each section up into (which im sure could be changed into your patter if needed). And each effect is properly credited, discussed, and then disected.

It takes the sting out of alot of sleights, ooh yeah...did i mention some of the beautiful sleights? new versions of double lifts in seventh heaven and ahead of the pack...

If you have any sense, you already own Annemann's 202 ways of forcing booklet. (if not, hang your head in shame and go buy it). But the Encyclopedia of Impromptu Card Forces is an absolute dream too. A lovely large glossy hardback book, broken down into sections and each handling explained clearly and concisely.

A word of warning for this book though - do not attempt to go through it from start to finish, you'll go mad...honestly...

Both Seventh Heaven and Ahead of the Pack follow suit (pardon the pun) as in they are discussed in the same way, talking about the original effect, what was streamlined and whats been completely changed...

Honestly, some of the stuff in here had me grinning from ear to ear, giggling to myself and staying up til 4 in the morning...

Ok, a little pricey i suppose, but let me put it to you this way; if you bought a self-tying shoelace, and one of the mobile phone effects..you could of had one of these books instead...

overall
...well nothing in the world is perfect, so i'll rate each of these a
9.85 out of 10

you could easily make an hour long set out of these books...easily...should be on everyone's list really...

Thank you so much for the information. I will look into the books you guys mentioned

I debated whether or not to post this. I really want to keep it to myself. Well, I’m new here, so I guess I might as well contribute something useful.

Lewis Jones wrote a book called “Person to Person”. It is…

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!

OK. Now, I’m going to plant a little hypnotic suggestion.

You are getting sleepy….

Sleeeeepy…

Very sleeeeepy….

You will forget “Person to Person” ever existed

I will snap my fingers and you will wake up with no memory whatsoever of “Person to Person”

SNAP

Thanks,

Elliott

You forgot "Person to Person" which is one of my favorite resources when it comes to radio and telephone demonstrations.

Was just about to, sah! Well, the Encyclopedia anyway, sah! Permission to comment, sah!

500 impromptu forces that can be done with a borrowed deck? Not 'arf, O great leader of men!

Got it on Friday, by Saturday I had not only completely changed my thinking on equivocation but was using it in the Pure Magic bar in Manchester on Saturday night for some friends. Casualties nil. Mission a complete success, sah!

Utter genius, packed with tip after tip, your colonelness.

Limited edition, though. Only 300 available, sah! Urge immediate action.

Messasge ends.

(mind you, part of me wanted to keep it secret as a strategic weapon...)

To be fair, we should mention that Ahead of the Pack was co-authored with Jack Avis. It is excellent. I particularly like Jack's version of the centre tear.

I can recommend Person to Person too, although I have never seen it in book form. It was originally serialised in Magigram, the magazine of the lamented Supreme Magic.

Can you remember when that was, as I have numerous back copies of the said lamented magazine?

I was afraid someone would ask that!

September 1988 (black cover) to January 1990.

Message understood Sargeant Tomo sah!

I'm trying to convert a few to seventh heaven and the forces book, ravishing little numbers both of 'em...

if they came in a dress, i'd marry them...

Ahead of the pack is indeed thoroughly gorgeous too...

60-70 of your earth pounds for the first two - and you'll use them forever, quite rare these days...

Are any copies of the Impromptu Encyclopedia still available? As far as I can see they're all gone, which is a travesty.

Unfortunately the travesty is true.

I had a brief email conversation with Lewis Jones when purchasing 'The Magical Gourmet'.

The rights to the card forces book now belong to HR magic books. So maybe Stephen Minch will be reprinting soon?

All the best,
John.
