Palmistry: a teach-in by Reverend Mark Lewis

Postby IAIN » Sep 25th, '06, 11:06

From: Reverend Lewis

Price: $50 per video or DVD (plus postage)

Disclaimer: Reverend Lewis has neither threatened to hex me, curse me and unfortunately nor has he offered me vast sums of filthy dollars to review this material.

Further Disclaimer: My general thoughts on this side of things, is mixed. I cannot say for definate that there is or isn't anything in the art of Palmistry. I have an open-mind.

Addition to the above further Disclaimer: If comments are made just to inflame or critise individuals purely from the stand point of not agreeing with anothers point of view - i shall delete this...so there...

I have not ever seen nor met a 'true' psychic. Yet i'd like to believe there are such people on this earth. Whether you agree or not, is nothing to do with me. I enjoy discussing this and other related issues - but i feel personally, that a little uncertainty is sometimes a good thing in life.

I'm not a 100% skeptic, I'm also not a fan of organised religion. I feel it is up to the individual to develop their own beliefs as they progress in life.

I thoroughly enjoy the art of cold-reading, and am a fan of Ian Rowland and Kenton Knepper. I openly admit to not knowing much about these skills - but feel i owe it to myself to investigate the tarot, palmistry and any and all other arts that i deem interesting enough to spend my hard earned money on. I have also began to investigate the other side of the coin too - the spiritual, the metaphysical, the shut-eye methods....

I feel you should know all this before i review this material.

Review
This is a teach-in (part 2 of 3 courses covered by Mr. Lewis - numerology/palmistry/tarot). What do you get? What's involved? Well - you get a very honest, almost painfully so view from Reverend Lewis.

He believes in the palmistry "20%", the rest is intuition and cold reading.

There is also a recommendation to look into Richard Webster's books on these subjects. Throughout you are urged to learn the real stuff. The correct vernacular, the shut-eye way.

Reverend Lewis does cover a little of the flim-flam, the bunko booth, the cold reading methods; but for the majority of the dvd he covers the real basics of real palmistry.

Most importantly though - he talks alot about the ethics of it all. Which ultimately is the most important lesson to learn. You also see him in action giving someone an impromtu reading, which gives you a very good idea as to how to structure you reading.

And he nails the fact that the guy has 2 kids, both boys...

So ultimately, you are paying for years, and years and years of experience. Of honesty, of ethics and the basics of this skill.

As an aside, i would personally recommend this book for an indepth yet easy to understand step by step guide (with colour photos) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Art-Hand-Readin ... F8&s=books

Would i recommend this to you? Well, that's for you to decide isn't it. For me, this was highly insightful. And i was very impressed by the blunt honesty of it all too. I shall make alot of notes, then apply it what i want to achieve in my future readings.

8.5 out of 10 for me. I would say it might benefit the learning experience if it included a small crib sheet showing each major line and what it meant/where it was....

Please note: Reverend Lewis is what i class as a "character" - the way he comes across on here is to be taken with a pinch of salt, especially if you find the way he expresses himself a little harsh...i've always taken it as fun rudeness, things are said in a fake bluster of anger or venom. Not to be taken seriously i feel, i don't think he cares that much about others opinions of him...could be completely wrong, but this is my review...

I thank abraxus for the review but I don't understand why he says the price "depends".

It is $50 per video (or DVD if you really insist on the bloody things) plus postage. There is an audiocassette which costs $20. There are 4 videos. If you buy the whole jolly lot I will include the audiocassette free.

I will admit there is still some confusion on my part as to what I should charge for postage since I don't know where the hell everyone lives or if I am sending videos or DVDs which are a transitory thing for me at the moment.

If I post a picture of my palm could you figure it out?

Oh and incidentally you will get far better results from using real palmistry than you will get from all that Ian Rowland (and others) cold reading c*** (not the best).

I will admit that I am not above a bit of flim flammery when I feel the need and I sometimes do but by and large why do things the fake way when you can get better results and far more accurate readings by doing it for real.

How did I know the guy had two kids, both boys? No real secret here. No checking him out on the internet. No cold reading or fishing required. No. I didn't need any of that nonsense.

So how did I know?

Shhh........It's a secret.

It was ACTUALLY on his hands. No kidding......................

I must inform Mr Calthorp that I am fed up looking at hands on the internet. That Eckozero experience has quite tired me out. Besides looking at a person's hands does not tell me which part of the world he hails from.

Anyway I don't need it. You live in Paris. I got it from a psychic vibe. I can assure you the fact that it is under your avatar had nothing to do with it of course.

I'm afraid I don' t live in Paris, more's the pity. It's an outright fib; just a reference to my chosen pseudonym.

Well done, abraxus! You've obviously been studying your Mark Lewis video well!

It is true that I got "Paris" wrong. It is also true that Charles gave me no money for the reading.

I suppose he got his money's worth.

I do not advertise the DVD/video thing on my website because it is a most unholy activity. You can however obtain it by contacting me direct by e-mail via my website or private message me on this forum.

last friday evening i went out and about in london with a mate of mine, we ended up in some cocktail bar or other...i got talking to a woman there and gave my first proper palm reading...

i was surprised it went well all things considered - especially after 3 cocktails and 2 whiskeys down...she was impressed enough to buy me another cocktail and a kiss on the cheek too...

but there were things in my favour, i noticed a tate modern plastic bag in her handbag, some of her "student-like" friends were dressed in an indie-fashion...a few give-aways..

i even remembered to put in a tiny bit of muscle-reading and told her what finger she was concentrating on...

i enjoyed doing it, kinda forgot some of the spiel and a couple of mounds, but overal i think i did ok...

I thank abraxus for reminding me of the finger thing. I used to do it a lot when I first started doing palmistry. For some reason I have forgotten it and the stunt has fallen into disuse. I shall have to reactivate it again.

For those of you who do not know it the stunt can be found in George Andersons "Magic Digest" a great book if you can find it.
