One hander magic

Postby johntheblob » Sep 28th, '06, 18:04

I know I am brand new to the forum, and it is generally rude to ask for requests without having contributed in the past, but I figured I would just put this out there.

I only have 1 good hand (left) and have gotten pretty good at some tricks, but I was wondering if you could refer me to somewhere that has more 1 handed tricks. I remember seeing a former magician that lost his right hand in an accident, then started all over from scratch. Anyhow, any advice is appreciated.

Rene Lavand has only one hand and he has a series of DVDs; Rene Lavand Close-up Artist 1-5.

They should help!

Yes, he's the most famous one handed magician (actually the only one I have heard of) and actually he uses the left hand like you. He's Argentinian, born in 1928, but lost his right hand in a car accident when he was 9 years old.
You can see more details about his DVDs here.
He's got an excellent website http://www.renelavand.com
You can see a clip of his performance here and here.

Hope you enjoy :D

Check out Magie Duvivier. Nice card book from a one handed magician.

The book Expert Card Technique has a lot of good one handed magic in it. It is also probably one of the best books on Card Magic on the market.

Coming from a Leafs fan......I have my doubts! Only kidding - sort of

Those in Canada will understand what I mean.....for those in the UK, likely similar to a football discussion about who's hot, who's not!

I'll recommend looking up one of the greats of Las Vegas fame, Johnny Paul (World's Greatest Magic -- the original book, has some info on him).

Edited by Mods - there are far better ways of phrasing things than that. Please think carefully before pressing the Submit button

Barnabas, I don't think that's relevant to the discussion.
