i have been doing magic for many years now and i only do close-up. I have a good variety of tricks and pick between them to take to parties etc. I was just wondering which close up effect all you heavily experienced magicians consider the best. I want to learn/by a trick which will get me a reputation and a lot of respect.
Your tips would be gratefully received!!!

well im not that experienced (only been doing this for maybe 6 months or so to be honest) but one of the tricks i do for the biggest reactions is simply the penacoin routine believe it or not maybe because its so simple to do and people can REALLY examine it afterwards, NFW always gets a good reaction, REAL floating card is also good. For one on one situations MELT usually freaks people out especially if done with a cigarette packet.
If your good enough with cards a well done ambitious card routine is a killer
And lately I've been freaking people with my NEO magnet, coin standing on edge in specs hand etc

penacoin is a breeze.... can be bought from most magic sellers for about a fiver, basiclly a piece of rubber is stretched over a glass with a 10p on top... magician pushes coin through rubber with a pop, rubber is left whole

oh that one!ive seen a video of that being done before. i always like to do the two card monte on people..it gets a good reaction. A great illusion to do with groups, especially kids, is the twisting arm illusion. If you get everyone to try it and for a great kick at the end start with a plastic cup under your arm and wen you need to crush it and it sounds like your bone has snapped!!!!very funny:P

I really like the look of Healed and Sealed Soda Can by David Blaine ( i haven't got it yet myself). Maybe you should try that. It is only about a tenner and you can get it from
www.emagictricks.co.uk, have alook around there too they do loads of tricks.

Dan, if you check the other Sections you'll see loadsa postings re Healed & Sealed - try the Search function at the top of the page as well. On balance, H&S is a great trick under the right conditions and provides a memorable effect for the specs without too much preparation. If you're thinking of getting this one (and bear in mind that all you get are the instructions), don't hang about, send emagictricks your order pronto!
