Beautiful; really is. I have a very good slight but I still don't feel guilty about cheating. The effect knocks them dead.
I try to perform this in two stages.

[edited by mods] Shazam :D

Hope it makes sense, love this effect

that's really nice Martin. I will try that.

A fantastic visual effect, and worthy of inclusion in a repertoire I guess, but I am afraid I'm with Euan in the fact that this is a gimmick doing the work.

As for the comparisons to Erdnase's CC, I'm afraid in 10 years time, WOW! will be at the bottom of many drawers, Erdnase won't.

However, I can't deny that this is a shock item with spectators.

I ordered mine yesterday and it should be here within the week, I still worry a bit that they will ask to see the sleeve regardless of all the people saying they never get asked to see the sleeve, I think I know how the sleeve works and I don't know what to say if they asked to see it. ...What do you guys do if they ask to inspect it? Is their any way to get an identical sleeve for handing out after the effect?

As said before, the sleeve is practically see-thru after the effect, and if you immediately take it out of play and bring focus to the card, it is the CARD which is more suspect to be the gaff...

The nature of this effect, i.e. that it's played mainly in your hands, gives you the advantage of controlling the attention.

I thought long and hard about replying to those comments, because I have great respect for both seige and Euan.

I am without doubt not as skilled a cardician as those chaps, but I can do a reasonable erdnase CC, and yet I still like and use wow.

yes it is a gimmick where it could be argued a gimmick isn't needed, but the reactions I get when the card changes really looks far more like magic than I have ever achieved with the erdnase CC.

I do accept that perhaps my ECC is not as good as I thought and that may be the reasons the reactions aren't as good, but I think it is more than that. I think it is to do with the way that one card apparently morphs itself into another.

I started using WOW just before Christmas when I had a series of James Bond Themed events and my patter revolved around the latest Q gadget and one card being transported out of the deck (blah blah blah). The reactions were nothing short of the "WOW" it was obviously named after.

Since the James Bond themed events I decided to carry the sleeve around with me, not to use as part of my close-up act, but for after or whenever I get asked to see something extra. I have so far had two bookings from this effect alone, so I would say it plays pretty strong

I find the focus is ALWAYS on the card and not the sleeve. No one has yet asked to look at the sleeve, that goes quietly in my pocket as they look the card over. IMO no one even thinks about the sleev least of all suspects it.

So, although perhaps it is not for the card purest - it is still nevertheless imho a great effect.

Just an idea for the people who are worried about the sleeve why dont you just get a duplicate, im sure there not hard to find and if they do ask to look at it you could always do a switch. I personally dont think this is needed but if you are genuinly worried it might be an idea.

If you could do the same trick without a wallet, you would be magic!

You might remember that I was as unconvinced by this as many others, even after I'd seen it in action (on me, not laypeople).

However, my mind's been completely changed by seeing the effect it has on people. As an example I was out on Saturday night and I'd been doing a few tricks earlier in the evening but had decided to knock it on the head as I was getting drunker and didn't want to make a fool of myself. After a while I met some other mates and one of them was pestering me to do some stuff for a girl with them (which gave me the interesting insight of hearing my tricks reconstructed to another party) but I was reluctant at first.

At this point another mate (a better magician than me) stepped in and did some stuff, the girl liked it but said "Can you push a wine bottle through the table like Etienne?". It turns out that she works at a nearby hotel where Etienne Pradier does a lot of the events, and the guy really is good. She then described his performance of Wow as the best thing she or any of the other staff had seen ever, from anyone. In fact she wouldn't stop banging on about it. So there you have it, direct evidence from a total lay of the power of the effect.

Crack away! I'm sure you'll be suitably appalled by the 15 pages of tragic puns that subsequently derail the thread

I should be receiving this effect today, I was just wondering if anyone has used this the way they show but when you do the DL you let put the card in the sleeve and shuffle and control the 6 of hearts to the top and double left showing a different card and have them put their hand on it...then the 6 of hearts would jump from the sleeve to their hand and their card would magically appear in the sleeve...The indifferent card would be lost ...I was thinking about using it this way.

I have been introducing mine as the latest James Bond type time machine, then preceeding with Jay Sankey's "back in time".

For those who know the effect the righting of all the cards and the card change seems to take the heat from the wallet.

To be fair let me first say I don't like introducing any unfamiliar object to tricks, I stick to cards, coins, everyday objects that I can put in their hands or swap out if needed. Any gimmick should remain unseen by the spectator in my opinion.

I am a big fan of a couple of Masuda's effects, as far as Wow!, that's exactly what I said, "Wow!... that is a $5 child's trick remarketed for $55." Everyone keeps saying the plastic envelope is beyond suspicion, that couldn't be further from the truth. It's the one foriegn object brought in obviously because it is needed for the effect so it becomes the most suspicious. (No matter how much you wave it over your hand) The plastic gimmick is also a very familiar illusion to every spectator. They put them on comicbook covers, I've seen magazine ads, I've seen little discs with baseball team logos on them. (As I'm typing this I'm thinking where did I just see one, and here it is in my drawer a plastic drink coaster advertising Absolute Vodka) Watching the video, it took me all of 5 seconds to figure it out and I can't imagine it taking much longer for non-magicians.

"See just a simple plastic holder nothing suspicious" "Can I see it?" "Uh, ...no" Yeah, that's beyond suspicion.

If it works for you great but $55 so people can say, "Wow!, that's a cool trick envelope." that's just crazy.
