I'd say quite the opposite. Use both. If you move forks using just one method, the spec may guess. Mix up two methods, moving the forks in two contrasting ways (I mean, make the forks move in different ways, creating a different visual effect), and the spec will be baffled.

I was wondering if the bat & M5 are worn about the body in the same way?
