Flash card (the better version of blink)

Postby benthompson » Jun 22nd, '03, 15:14

Name: Flash card
Price: $7-$10
Availibility: Most good amgic retailers
Skill required: 1/5
Practise time: max 10min

My opinion: 5/5

This is the very best version of this effect as the card is precision made to be only a single card thickness. Identical in effect to "Blink" but a far superior prop.

A card is selected from a deck, and vanished.

You produce 1 card from your pocket.

When it is shown the spectators tell you it's the wrong card.

NO problem at all!

You Toss the card in the air and it INSTANTLY and VISIBLY changes to their selected card!

This is a good trick in which you can accuse the spectator of lying and you can hold the suspence on for ages. This takes very little time to practise, Printed on blue backed bicycle deck and is thinner and better than blink.

Highly recommended
5/5!!

I have to agree - the Flash Changing Card is a good prop. The quality is pretty good, although it has to be said mine has suffered casualty - but it's pretty easy to repair.

The purist in me usually forces me to do regular colour-changes, but on the rare occasion I remember to pack this card in my arsenal, it shocks!!!

The beauty is that if you manage to switch cards fluently, you can pull this off as a miracle...

The handling described by Ben (tossing the card in the air) is a little bit risky, I've found, as the card leaves your control for a second.

This gaff allows begiccians to be more creative with their revelations - without having to learn the complex sleights and switches involved with this type of effect.

As for it being a better version of 'Blink' - it's down to interpretation of what defines 'better'. It's a difficult call between effects like this, and you've really needed to have used both in anger to make judgment.

wow, sounds excellent,

I have blink, but the crease gets a little dirty and obvious so you do have to be careful, so i took it apart and started making my own.

it sounds really good, also if you like this effect, i can recommend Ed Marlo's snap change if you are performing to one or two people only though. This has the same effect as blink, but uses a regular deck, but is very angle sensitive..... dont say i didnt warn you :P

That's probably because the last post was made almost 2 years ago. Just go to www.cards4magic.co.uk and search around - they have a lot of very nice and tempting things to buy!

That's odd. I've just tried the URL inthe error message and it's okay. Mind you, there's some freakiness on the 'net today.

I just did a quick check and it looks as though this item has been removed from all the usual places. The Flash Changing Card Case comes up quite often but not Flash Changing Card - not even on the US sites, sorry.
