So, where exactly did you buy this from? This item seems pretty cool to carry around, could be used to act as a god-like creature for society. :D

after buying my ET from another member on this forum about a month ago, I have only just tested it out. This is going to be fun, I am not sure if the battery's are low but the shocks were real small but very noticable. I also made dust dance! Very pleased with it, its all about the permanent instalation

ET

I have been using this effect for quite a while now and it is absolutely fantastic. It can be used 'at will' - in other words, you determine when you want to use it or not. No physical switching required, the movement to activate the equipment is so natural that you are probably doing it as you are reading this note! As to the size of the shocks - it does depend on obviously the strength of the batteries (ie if they are starting to drain) but also the humidity and the situation you are in - there is also a regulator on the apparatus for high and low shocks although the high shock compares with something you would maybe get from a metal bannister if you were standing on a nylon carpet - in other words, it won't kill you! However, if you are not expecting it, it will seem stronger than it is.
I really cannot recommend this enough and it can be used in conjunction with so many other aspects of the trade - a great buy.

A couple of questions:
Could it be switched on by accident or are you in complete control?

Is there a danger when using it around liquids?

Paul Daniels does a routine with shocks from a normal looking chair which can be bought from www.dream-concepts.com though it's quite expensive (£649).
His routine involves volunteers and when they sit on the chair they receive a shock.
I should imagine Electric Touch could be used in a similar way.
Drat! You've got me wanting one now!!!!

Freddie, Sorry to contradict you but Paul's version is extremely low-tech
it is NOT achieved with gimmicks of any kind. he boorrows the chairs from the venue and nothing is added or taken away. Paul himself is not "wired" up to anything either. (I am trying to make a point here without revealing the method to those not in the know!) Suffice to say, the method Paul uses was a do-able before electricity was discovered!

Electric Touch is a great prop but should not be confused with the "Electric Chair" routine as performed by many pros.

If I had one piece of advice to offer it is; less is more. don't be tempted to use it's power at every opportunity.

Yup - I believe the version that Paul performs was actually published in the Supreme maunscript, 'The Real Secret of The Electric Chairs', and has nothing whatsoever to do with electricity

Thanks chaps, I think I know the method you're referring to now.
How powerful is Electric Touch, for instance could is be dangerous if you activated it and accidentally touched a wire fence or something?

If you touch anything that will earth (or ground) you, then you will get a shock. No you won't be injured anymore than you would touching a spectator, but I suppose it is the surprise element that gets you!

Just read loads of reviews of electric magic. Sounds great! Loads of fun if you are out with friends etc. I'm sold. Where do i buy from - any in the UK?

Remember that it is not a toy so 'loads of fun' is a bit innaccurate. It can be purchased from most UK dealers. Places like JB magic stock it and you may want the accessories kit as well. I don't use it to shock people, instead it is a serious tool to create an apparant psychic 'occurrence'. I really don't like the idea of this being considered a device to just shock people, it has so much more potential when used correctly and with the right amount of thought.

On a trip to a market in France I purchased a great little addition to the ET effect. It is a pen that you can offer to spectators to sign their card, but when they press the button at the top to open it up it offers a shock... good for comedy routines in a set.

I heard a ruour that using this device will allow you to perform an effect which appears to make you 'pluck' a thought of word out the spectators head. Is this nonsense, or is a variation of this effect possible? If i've got the wrong gimmick thread here, please point me in the direction of the right gimmick.

Im sure the thought 'plucking' thing can be done. I saw a young looking british magician, calls himself dynamo i think - he did it, and it looked pretty cool. So i was wondering if this ET is the correct tool for the job? Without giving anything away obviously, can anyone describe how this effect looks through the spectators eyes, what do they see the magician do, what do they experience as this mind reading takes place.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tyler,

From a spec's pov, they concentrate on their thought, the magi touches them, they get a shock, and...well, that's it really
