the petition is one step

Postby Illusionart » Dec 12th, '08, 02:02

We have to find a way to really put the heart back in magic, we have to take the rains and change this.

It is possible to change things, whats the best way to change things, to bring people together, to use our power to speak out and create the future that we want.

Every moment has to be a step towards that change.

This petition is a step, more do need to be made, we need to write to all the sites that allow such things to go on.

We need to protect our secrets more and show people that magic is not about lies, its not about tricking them, it is a gift, a gift that takes a long time to nurture.
When you give someone a gift and it is torn to shreds, this can be heart breaking, but why, what is the reason?

Magic has changed, it can change again, let us all put our hearts truly into this, let us dedicate our passion for magic and allow wonderful things to happen.

The reason you love magic is the key, reach inside and find that reason, find that feeling and let it transcend you, let it reach all,
You can do this through your magic.

If you put all your heart into it, you could change lives with your magic.

Maybe he's busy practising, or performing rather than pointlessly trying to stop a 14 year old exposing red hot momma on youtube?

there is just one problem with this kind of petition it willl make no diffrence. as a petition no matter how many signatures are on it will only ever count as one complaint as it is only one document and with the internet how will you stop magic exposure when huge record and film companys can't even stop music and film piracey my advice is to not worry about it an just spend the time you spend complaining about exposure working on new tricks and routines use the wasted time constructivley

Are performers have a extra hard time with hecklers because of all the exposure? How about Buskers?

Forgive me for picking up on old information. I use, as an excuse, that I am old. It seems to me that some things are missing. Firstly, that it is now possible to petition the UK government (for whom I have no respect so don't ask me) within this "Internet". Someone young and clever should be able to find the way. Apparently, it only takes 500 signatures and that nice Mr Brown is obliged to take notice. On the subject of the "Wikipedia" thing. I don't have great knowledge of this but have many friends of great age that do. You may all "log-in" and create and account (no money is involved, apparently). You may then object to an entry and have it removed. I'm not sure how simple this is but how strong are your feelings. It takes sufficient numbers so how far will you go to support your chosen art? Finally, I would say but one thing from an aged but still alive old alchemist, what is the secret of magic? I can tell you now that there is not one but many. I know some and wish I knew all but life is short and it is unlikely to be. However, I do believe I have learnt over my many years. I can give you examples of true magic that cannot be refuted. But I will remain modest until asked. You are the navigators of your own destiny - leave the wheel if you wish - or? Much love. Kryzal x

I am all for banning exposure, it ruins the magic for children and fans alike.

I never reveal to any of my friends but suprisingly few ask as it takes away from the magic aspect of it.

What about Magic DVD's

Are these lectures exposure or what.

I have many DVD's and would never sell them on.
But many do. Ebay is full of it

I would like to ask an honest, sincere question.
Where did you guys learn all your tricks?

I learned half of mine on Youtube.
I can't seem to find these tricks anywhere except the internet.
Seriously, where else do you find tricks and effects?

Books, CDs, DVDs, Magic Clubs, Magic Shops (not many of those left) - all of which involve paying for the secrets and the magic.

I learned all mine from books. I do own a couple of dvds (Link, Cups and Balls etc) but these were more to expand on things i already knew.
To be honest youd be better off getting yourself some good books or dvds, you cant learn properly from you tube. Any magic shop (internet or brick) should stock a wide range of instruction material in diffirent formats for you to choose from. Search the internet for shops near you that you can visit or order from :) jim

You often get magic workshops at juggling conventions. Free of charge of course. It was a rope magic workshop at a European Juggling Convention that sparked an interest off for me.
Actually the Birmingham University Juggling Convention had some magic workshops last year. It's coming up again on 20th February. Mind you that's the weekend of the Blackpool magic convention. You wouldn't have any free magic workshops at a magic convention of course.

All the best,

Kevin

Don't get into the habit of watching these "how to" guides on youtube. Yes they may seem like a good idea in the beginning but they don't teach you the patter, how to act or anything about performing the trick other than just straight up how its done.

Get Bobo's Modern Coin Magic and Royal Road to card magic. You'll learn more about magic out of these two books alone that you will out of a 1000 youtube how to videos. :D

Ok. I will make sure to look for Bobo and Royal Road. Are these books or DVDs? And where could I get more books and Dvds? Should I Google them? or go to a magic shop?
