Balanced review there. Excellent work one of the best reviews ever well this year.

Unlike this one of mine

http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic15636. ... hotography oh well :(

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

Do they teach color changes? If not... do you know where i could get information on learning these?

The best information on colour changes is in the Vernon inner secrets trilogy by Lewis Ganson and now published by L and L. There is a whole bunch of them in there.

My favourites are the French Drop colour change and Vernon's version of the Erdnase colour change. The first because of the sucker entertainment aspect of it and the second because it is quite angleproof which is unusual in colour changes.

If anybody has an interest in card magic then this is the first book you should buy and possibly one of the only books on card magic you will ever need.
Think of a sleight, any sleight (card sleights of course) and it's bound to have it. It is well written because in each chapter it teaches the sleights then tricks you can do with them so that you don't rush ahead of yourself.
Later on it teaches routines including classics like the ambitious card.

If you are a card magician and you don't have this book you should be beaten... with a book on card magic.

I'm new to all this card trick stuff, but am willing to learn as much as I can. I have recently purchased The Royal Road to Card Magic it cost me £5.77 I've read a lot of good things about it, and I hope it will get me on the right track.

First Book

Postby AJ_Salt » Mar 20th, '07, 17:57

This was the first book of magic I ever bought from waterstones. At the time I had no idea whether it was good or not. Best buy I ever made.

I didn't get another book on card magic for about a year and I still refer to it today. Excellent book.

Best DVD for cards - Kaufman - Basic card sleights.

With the above 2, there's not much you can't do.

Elmsley count, jordan count, gemini count. countless other counts and colour changes..

a gobload of theory on presentation, humour, audience management.

A whole load more flourishes!!

I think RRTCM is great but I have been converted to Card College as the definitive source. Its just the price difference thats a ball ache.

Bobo still rules for coins though.. nothing comes close.. not even vaguely

www.youtube.com/brum2redmagic !! Youtube Project started.. early days

Price tag.

Postby AJ_Salt » Mar 23rd, '07, 14:00

I also have Card College.

The price tag is steep though. If you consider that you can get RRCTM for a tenner, then when starting out I'd still stand by what I said above. They will never include evrything but for your first year they are the best.

You could also say that Daryls encyclopedia teaches you it all. But again it comes down to price for someone just starting out.

What on earth is wrong with some of the people on this site? This review may not be the most errudite or informative one that you will see but it comes from someone who shares our interest in magic and wants to try to help others prior to purchasing something. StevieJ, Neyak, Markdini and Sir_Digby_Chicken_Ceaser you should be ashamed of yourselves for your petty, sarcastic comments. Did your parents forget to tell you that they loved you or something similar? If your only comments on a post are hurtful putdowns then why post at all? I'm sure that there are forums that centre on schadenfreude, I'm sure that you'd be welcomed there. As for citing your own very average review (Markdini) as something for others to aspire to, well what can I say; self-opinionated? Insecure person needing to boost themselves? Deluded? It could go on and on. I welcome any review from anyone who is enthusiastic enough to post on this forum, if it adds something to my knowledge - brilliant, if not - it's good to know that there are fellow enthusiasts out there.

Try and grow up little boys.

This may help just a tiny bit more

The Effect
Its the bible of card magic it will teach you from begginer shuffles and fake shuffles to advance unoticable sleights. Everyone needs this book if you do card magic. It also teaches flourishes to help you look better and handle the cards.

Cost
$8-$11 on amazon pretty much the price of a couple boxes of cereal :D

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
1-4
This book will get you going from 0-100 as long as you pay attention. .

Review
Like I said it is the card bible it will teach you a bunch of shuffles, shuffle fakes, sleights, and routines. Must buy for only $10.

Overall
10 out of 10 you cant go wrong for $10 unless you lost it
