PSNYPE: By Kevin Parker www.kevinparkerproductions.com

The effect:
You give the spectator a deck of cards which they can cut as many times as they like, then peeking at the top card (whilst you are turned away). You turn back around and tell them the name of their peeked-at card.

The Cost:
$17.00 *Instant Download*

Differculty:

1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights involved, 4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for expericened magicians only.

1 (very easy to do)

Info:

*Deck can be examined before and after.

*Back is turned immediately after handing the spectator the deck of card and while he has a peek at the cards.

*Very easy to do, instantly repeatable.

My Review:
I must congratulate kevin on making another amazing magic trick. As usual i was very glad that i had brought this download it is so simple to do but such an amazing effect and reaction that you get. Kevin goes through 3 different Methods for Psnype which are all very effective.

Overall:
I would say that this trick is quite amazing so i would rate it:

9/10

I would not under-rate or dismiss the BCS so quickly.

You'd need to expand on that - which one do you rate as a 'rip off' and why do you come to that conclusion?

Does this effect using a normal deck of cards or a 'gimmicked' one?

There's something I really, really hate about Kevin Parker.

I end up buying most of his tricks just to see how they're done...

i assume he is saying that psynpe is a rip of of the other two, i don't know the method for psynpe, but if it works the way bcs does he has a point, it wouldnt really be an effect in itself, merely a card revelation using "that method", being marketed as an effect in its own right.

Can someone with psynpe inform me otherwise, perhaps in psynpe you dont have to get the rest of the cards back and glimpse what you need for bcs, or something to differentiate it from any other deck that uses "that method"?

I knew how it was done.. i bought it so I could learn his system.. which is a piece of cheesecake..

I have sti stebbins card control... I must read this at some point

One thing to point out -- Kevin has a really creative mind -- simple mthods.. great results ... quite genius

HOWEVER.. he has the personality of a fish.. His presentational skills leave a lot to be desired.. or maybe its just his texan accent I dont know..

"it uses a normal deck and a bit of prep"

Oh thank god! I read somewhere that it is really obvious and thought he just used a one way forcing deck.

That could be an Ellusionist project though.

Get ready for the trailers.

I would really steer clear of this one. It is really bad. Any beginner's magic book which teach you the Si Stebbins system and Kevin's special method is basically Stebbins+1 which it almost laughable. He claims its his own personal version that he invented!

Essentially you are paying £17 to learn a s**** that can be found in many card books and 2 ways of glimpsing the key card. Pretty standard stuff.

I thought i would quote a line from the DVD to give you an idea of how bad it is. Kevin teaches you how to psychologically influence the spectator to cut the deck instead of shuffle it:

"I want you to take this deck and cut it as many times as you want, kinda mixing it up"

Well i may not be any kind of Derren Brown but i am pretty sure that all Kevin does there is ask the spectator to cut the deck, no psychic influence used there!!!

About the only merit on this dvd is that he has worked a way to perform this from a distance in a stand up situation. Put it this way, if you sat down for 2 mins and tried to work out you could do this with the volunteer 6-10 feet away, the answers you would come up with are probably the same as Kevin's.

It has to be said again, just buy Tarbell or Card College and you won't need to buy half of these 1 trick DVDs as this where a lot of their material comes from!

Avoid!
