Now that you (Mandrake) mention it; I did think that the tricks in vol. 1 of 'Complete Card Magic' did look familiar. A few years ago, I purchased 'Jaw Droppers' VHS with Larry Anderson. Vol. 1 of 'CCM' by MM is almost trick-for-trick the same as Anderson's card magic tape of Jaw Droppers. In fact, I think there's only one trick on it that wasn't of JD.

I have the DVD and so can comment having watched it through. It is well enough presented, the teaching is fine. As to a need for 40 "forces"... I dont think the idea is to have 40, 50 or 1,000 "up your sleeve". The benefit I have got from this DVD and also books on the subject is the ability to look at numerous different forces, try them out and find the 5 - 10 that suit me best. The suggestion that 40 forces all need be learnt and added to one's arsenal is not thought through.

ITs called ethics. I dont hate those people. But I do believe they lack ethics and respect for the art. Ignorance... means lack of respect.

And yes I hate MM, when they stole a close friends item it become personal. And just the fact that they dont respect the art, means that those who buy their items also lack respect for the art.

sorry David, I think you're way over the top. I bought this DVD from a reputable magic dealer (BTW, not Magic Makers although on checking it is distributed by them)...

The USPCC do business Magic Makers... should we all stop buying Bicycle cards?

I dont have any direct experience with MM's so I cant debate whether or not they are good operators, I have no idea. However for you to suggest anyone who does business with them doesn't "respect the art" is over the top mate. WAY over the top.

you're as rude as you are wrong... not necessarily re Magic Makers... as I have stated I dont have direct experience with them, so I dont pass judgement on whether or not they are "good" guys. You may well be right... I have no personal experience either way.

I dont actively seek product by MM's, I just bought one DVD, to suggest that of itself makes me a person who "doesn't respect the art" is rubbish.

do you advocate then we all stop buying bicycle cards? USPCC do business with Magic Makers! should we stop buying bikes? of course not. absolute nonsense! so enough with the hypocracy.

The DVD is a helpful tool in learning a variety of different forces, ultimately finding those that suit one's style.

I'm not a Magic Makers fan either, but I have know Gerry since he was 18 years old. (now in his 40s) his wonderful, easy going style of performing and teaching. He puts his all into everything he does and is willing to help anyone who needs it. Other videos he made for them were kind of edgy, but thats what they wanted from him. He has a magic shop/dinner theatre in Martinez California, called California Magic and Novelty. You can go on his web site, get his E-mail address and ask him anything.
As for needing 40 different forces, I see it this way. My motorcycle accident left my right arm with 4 plates in it, the bone fused at the elbow and I am unable to turn my hand palm up. Many of the things I used to do are out so I must fall back on other ways. Believe me it was a long road back. I recommend the video
