The Effect
List of effects Available:
The Credit Card Trick - A great multiphase routine using the Leclair hook-up.

The Haunted Deck - A spectator selects a card and the deck cuts itself to the position of the card. The card then jumps out of the deck.

Painted Tens
- The magician paints the colours of 2 selected cards using a double colour change.

10-13-20 - Shimshi's version of the Las Vegas leaper.

+bonus insights

Cost
Magic Box sells it for 14.99 pounds

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I give this a 3. Magicbox says it's a one. You can debate this in the comments.

Review

If you went to the Blackpool Convention you'll no doubt know who David Shimshi is. His lecture was the last lecture of the evening on the first night of the convention. My buddies and I were tired at this point but wanted to see the lecture as we wanted to see what else this Shimshi had to offer.

His take on a Paul Harris really wowed the audience at Blackpool. I've personally been able to perform this and the reaction is amazing.

The production of the DVD is fairly good quality. This DVD actually uses a microphone unlike others I've seen recently. The format of the instructions were pretty straightforward. I thought they could've done with some close-ups. Shimshi does cover a lot of ground for the small number of effects on the DVD. There are performances that show the effect in action in real situations.

I'd recommend this to people who saw the lecture in Blackpool and was impressed by his work. All of the effects are very commercial and would be very beneficial to someone starting out to do real work as a magician.

If you weren't impressed by Shimshi at all, this would probably be a waste of your time.

Here's a lin to his website

Running Time is Over 1 hour.

Overall

7/10, There's room for improvement. I hope to hear more from this guy in the future.

Thanks for the review. Could you maybe give some more detail on the effects presented on the DVD? The description at Magicbox is a bit lacking, so I was hoping you could shed some light on the effects.

I was at the lecture, but as it was quite late, i was a little drunk at that point, and sadly don't remember much of it. I do remember some great stuff with thread though.

Which Paul Harris effect are you referring to?
