How to do street magic:ellusionist

Postby AJ » Mar 22nd, '07, 23:51

The Effect
A dvd that tells a bunch of effects for begginers. Had some classics and some bonus extra stuff.

Cost
$49.95

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
1-2...very easily if you dont know the sleights you will learn fast but still very good effects

Review
I thought it was cool for learning some new stuff, but personaly i think it would be only $20. A freind lent it to me and i watched.

Overall
6 out of 10 because of the very very bad price. Also did anyone notice that the women for the commercialy type stuff were very weird? I mean one had a very tight shirt and had there belly button showing and she was kind of a heavier type person. I thought it was funny watching them though.

I've seen the DVD as well and thought is was overpriced (but only a few of ellusionist are not :D ). I think the Mark Wilson book would have been a better start.

Better yet, the RRTCM DVD set it's just a few dollars more and would take you a while to get through them.

I ended up getting this for 30ish picked it up mostly out of ignorance. But over all I would say its good but not great at all. Most all of the tricks are in Mark Wilisons complete course in magic just under a different name.

Only benefit would be to see it in a image based format if learning from books proves harder. But Wilsons book makes this dvd pointless in a way.

A bit of a cheek complaining about the price when you didn't buy a copy.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Back in the day Ellusionist stocked this and gave no credits for the effects taught on this video / DVD. I understand they've now changed that.

It still might, however, be more worthwhile (financially and creatively) to purchase the books and effects which they use as source material (Mark Wilson's Complete Course, The Royal Road, Modern Coin Magic, Roy Walton's Card Warp and so on) individually.

But if learning from books doesn't appeal, then this DVD is an option.

Hope this is of some help to someone,

Max.

Not really, it's been reviewed before.

As for complaining about the price of a DVD the reviewer didn't even paid for...
