After the Repetition Thread in the Doves Head, I came up with this idea.

Why not charge people £30 for joining, but give them a free MWCCIM and RRTCM book "free". That and a DVD with subliminal messages about not asking for secrets etc on it?

Job done!!

That may be tongue in cheek, but I think this is a good idea in principle. I'd offer a voucher with one of the board's adverstisers in place of the listed titles though.

I wonder how many of our 'elite' members would be willing to pay the toll?

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

I don't think that I would pay either.

If people pay then typically they want more control. I can see the "why can't I say that or sell that? - I've paid to join"

Keep the boards free I say.

I had the two books before I joined, so that would have been a waste. You'd run out of members very quickly. And who gets all the money anyway?

I think the idea was they would be used to pay for the books... but what if they already own the said books? And who would be responsible for buying them and shipping them off?

I reckon it's probably easier on the mods as it is.

So, I put i the post that there should be a DVD with a subliminal message in, and you take it seriously!!!!

It's a shame we can't somehow find a way that secret grabbers and time wasters can't be made to pay, then get diverted to another forum. A "which nappy?" forum would be great for them.
