Yeah, the Fixer spray is kind of a 'non-laminated' looking process.

Laminating always looks rubbish, and the idea that this book looks genuinely raw is one of it's selling points.

Varnish would 'soak' the paper, as it's nature is that the green colour of the paper goes darker with moisture. It would probably look patchy - plus, you'd need a flexible varnish to make it work.

It's amazing how the same stuff is sold at different prices for different purposes. Some years back I visited a factory where the main activity was producing 'designer' type hair shampoo for various well-known brands. The whole place had a strong aroma which I couldn't place for a while until I realised it was the smell of good old fashioned 1001 carpet shampoo. I mentioned this to the guy I was visiting and he just said, 'Same thing!'

that'll explain why the wife always wants to vacuum my hair... heh heh

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

We've got some similar coloured card at work that we use as covers when we submit design 'proofs' to clients... I'll do some experimenting...

It's not the book that matters

Postby bimbamboozle » Jun 10th, '04, 14:11

As this is such a good trick and you are intending to use it so much that you fear the book will not stand up to such repeated usage, might I suggest you buy a couple of extra copies since you fear that reinforcing or covering will destroy the book's "authenticity".

But I hardly think a bit of clearfilm on the cover will raise any more suspicions if the punters have already accepted a book containing nothing but random numbers and funny shapes. If they are being amazed and entertained it matters not how the cover is protected.

This trick looks brilliant - I was going to buy it yesterday, but emagictricks didn't have it. Then, today I got an email saying they do! It was really weird!

BIP Book

Postby DJae » Dec 7th, '04, 20:38

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me... I purchased this trick some time ago and enjoyed using it but as said its a trick you can't really repeat to the same people and as I was working a similar audience night after night (I use my act as a warm-up) I put it aside, forgot about it and only recently rediscovered it - However I have a problem I can't find the instructions on how to use it... Can anyone give me a reminder by PM?

Sorry to hear of your dilemma but we get so many folks appearing here asking for inside information and the Forum policy is to never give out such detail.

Alakazam.co.uk are the folks who have all the rights to this effect so if you contact Peter Nardi at Alakazam and can convince him that your request is genuine, he may be able to help you.

Ok, thanks for the contact - for the record I'm happy to quote what's on any particular page of the book e.g. 68 Wheels, red circle inside a black 5 pointed star; 915 finger, three wavey lines inside a purple diamond; on inside list of countries France is number 18 on the list (yes I remember that's part of the trick as is diamond ring on the rear)...

Update - hate posting a new message just for a simple update - thanks
for the help, I've now been able to add the BIP back into my act... Ta!

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I have just recently purchased this and it's superb. :D
Practical, usable and gets amazing reactions. Obviously it gives you great space to lay on your acting skills as the method is ingenious and does the work for you.

I have had trouble finding the three forces in the non-force pages too!
Can anyone help?
