What they say:

AN OUTLAW OF A CONCEPT THAT CAN BE APPLIED TO ANY DECK OF CARDS

PREDICT A MERELY THOUGHT OF PLAYING CARD WITH 100% ACCURACY

ANYBODY | ANY CARD | ANYTIME

THE PERFORMER SIMPLY WRITES HIS PREDICTION ON THE BACK OF THE CARD ON TOP OF THE DECK… THE SPECTATOR NAMES THEIR THOUGH OF CARD, THE TOP CARDS OF THE DECK IS SHOWN TO REVEAL A CORRECT PREDICTION.

WITH ABSOLUTELY MINIMAL SLEIGHT OF HAND, THIS MASTERMIND CONCEPT CAN BE APPLIED TO ANY DECK OF PLAYING CARDS

Review

In Outlaw Daniel introduces the Outlaw concept and then describes nine different effects where it can be used. It does require a gimmick though the notes cover the making of the gimmick, which is both super easy and inexpensive.

The tricks are practically self working with very little sleight of hand. One sleight you might need for a few effects is the spread cull. The file doesn't explain how to do it, so if you can't do it you should learn it from somewhere else first.

Overall

7/10. A solid bunch of mentalism type effects. Bear in mind that I haven't performed any of them yet so I cannot comment on the reactions you get, though I imagine they will be quite good.

This sounds very similar to effects put out both by Jay Sankey and Martin Sanderson a while back. If so - then this is certainly something worth looking into.

It doesn't say who Daniel is talking about but in the afterthoughts section of Outlaw he mentions that the Outlaw concept has been used in two effects, one of which was an almost word-for-word rip-off with no credit or mention of Daniel Madison.

Interesting. When did Daniel first release his effect?

The file says copyright of Daniel Madison 2004-2006 so I assume 2004.

I am interested in this as i was looking at both the Jay Sankey and Martin Sanderson DVDs and its obvious that Daniel is accusing one of them of ripping him off.

Does anyone have any release dates for these dvds?

I would rather buy an original product rather than one that is ripped off but I'm not sure which one is the original:

Storm Force 7
The Blackpool Effect or
Outlaw

Can anyone else shed any light on this??

all the best

To be honest, I'm not sure either are a rip-off of Outlaw.

Storm Force 7 - I believe was released in 2005 (possibly before) - as was Outlaw.

Sankey's Blackpool effect is the newest of the 3 releases - but it's actually a variation of another effect Sankey created, called Just Name It - which is currently distributed by Elmwood Magic.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see Sankey or Sanderson blatantly stealing an idea. I think it's more an occurance of like-minded thinking, really.
