Dynamo on Woss

Postby Tomo » Apr 14th, '07, 11:18

He was on last night and is on again at 1.20 Sunday morning. Here's a piece of advice:

Don't bother watching it. It was perfunctory at best.

I actually cringed watching this last night. He mumbled and fumbled, muttered and simply let Wossy dominate the proceedings. It was like watching a kid do a bunch of tricks. Badly. There was no act.

Sorry mate, but if you're reading this, you've been at it 7 years now. It's time to get a proper ACT together. Never be too proud to get lessons in acting, presentation, even just public speaking.

Yes, good luck to him, but the credit is due to his management more than anything else. As much as I admire most magicians, I feel that Dynamo is just a chav doing tricks and hasn't worked on any patter or presentation.
He strikes me as someone who has bought a few tricks off the net and considers himself a magician. He may do something great that will amaze me, but I'm not as impressed by him as others I have seen recently.
Max Somerset, Ali Cook, Pete Firman are all much more personable magicians but I suppose they lack that 'urban' or 'street' edge that people seem to be so obsessed with these days.

He's the magic equivalent of Just Jack.

Just Jack happens to be an amazing artist, with up beat tracks. unlike alot of s**t emo and s**t indie bands around!
and do you know what a chav is? i mean really? Dynamo is not a chav! really, come around liverpool and you'll see what a chav is. i happen to wear very similar clothes to Dynamo, and i am far form a chav.
i think D is what some people would call a "wigger" like eminem, but what ever 8)

A chav is someone who wear sportswear, talks in a fake Jamaican accent (depite being born and bred in the UK) and likes all things American.
Street Rats, I call them.
Just Jack is not an amazing artist, he will be forgotten this time next year and all the little chavs that bought his CD's will be selling them off down the local Trade Exchange to get some money to purchase 'light drugs'.

Wooaaaawww! Easy tiger! I'm not going to start informing people on what is and isn't a Chav as this is nothing to do with the purpose of this site but, you can't just slam everyone who wears sportwear into one catagory. Stereotyping to the max!

I know people who just like the look and find sportswear comfortable and in areas with people speaking with "Jafaican" accents it not hard for it to catch on. In schools for example. And likes all things American?

People who go out looking for fights and generally make other peoples lives miserable are seen as Chavs in my eyes. The rowdy boys at the back of the bus or the people who causing misery in town centers are the people who are up to no good. Dynamo, isn't hanging around street corners or sitting at the back of the bus smoking weed and shouting at grannys. He's out there, entertaining people, getting a name for himself and having fun! He's not hurting anyone, infact, he's helping people enjoy life more, and how can you have a go at him for doing that?

Not having a go at him for being a magician but he's The Streets of magic.
His dress and manner are designed to appeal to the younger 'chav' type which is why his tv special had him going around council estates entertaining commoners. If someone with a tux had tried that, they'd have had his phone and the wheels off his car in seconds, but Dynamo can get away with as he is designed to appeal to the (incredibly) common man.
I'm not saying he is good at what he does. Personally speaking, I prefer people that use linguistics and decent patter with their magic as opposed to someone who could hardly speak.
I didn't see the Jonathon Ross show, but from all accounts, this was his big chance to enter the public psyche and from the sounds of it, he blew it.
Really, if you get a BIG tv spot like that, surely you could think of using something stronger than a Haunted Deck?
I'm not knocking the fella, jolly best of British luck to him, but he is chavvy.
Maybe a LIDL's sponsorship is on the way?

He's an awful chav that can barely speak and has had a recent hit single called 'Starzz in Their Eyezz'. Well, it's spelt something like that in a dire bid to sound like an American rapper.
He also has a speech impediment and pronounces it 'Stars in der whys'.
Not good for a singer.

Bit like that "Only fools and" episdode where there is a singer who cant say R then....

On this chav thing I dont like the word and I have no beef with them myself. I would like to see all scum of the street be they punks, chavs or what ever any one causing a problem on the street, and that includes 12 year olds who want you to watch magic.

Well said that man! I like Just Jack :) and The Streets :). And Benny Benassi, System of a Down, Arctic Monkeys. Hell, I like most music. But today, culture is vastly moulded around music and I don't think anybody on here would say differently.

What a "stick form"?
A form of stick?

There was I thinking chavs were illiterate!

A family all decked out in sportswear? I've seen this kind of thing on 'Wife Swap'.
