Boris Wild has recently brought out a Bicycle version of "the gamblers marked deck", saw it last night and this thing is beautiful. I'll give you a rundown of what information there is. These are all seperate markings.

Card Identity

Card colour (Red or Black)

Card position in stack

Identity of next card in stack (bottom of cut)

One way deck orientation

The four aces have their own mark for easy identification.

I bought one of these on Thursday after seeing Boris give a demonstration in Stourbridge - it's a very clever deck. Thought I'd add one thing you didn't mention - it is also a stripper deck. Regarding the marking, they are obvious when you know what you're looking for but I don't think they would be spotted by a casual observer. For me, another important feature was that most of the marks are also visible if you fan left handed. A very clever deck....

One of the most obviously marked decks I have seen is Ted Lesley's deck. But guess what? No one spots it if you don't give them reason to. Splendid stuff; I love using marked decks.

The Deland Deck is also marked and stripped, in addition to other properties. They are £6 from The Card Collection. Search for "deland".

Sorry, I tried googling it to post a link earlier but I haven't found one yet. When he gave the demo Boris certainly gave the impression that is was hot of the press. You could try contacting him directly through http://www.boriswild.com

Indeed, basically we were the first people in Europe to hear about Boris' deck. Definately one to look out for though.

Here's a link for the deck on a US site

http://www.houdini.com/includes.cfm?page=shop/order4.cfm&item_id=2042&source=featuredhttp://www.houdini.com/includes.cfm?page=shop/order4.cfm&item_id=2042&source=featured

Stupid hyperlinks - can't get this working! Google 'Gamblers Deck' and follow the link to Houdini's magic shop.

International do a DVD and deck combo which is supposedly pretty good.

I was shown the Ultimate Marked Deck this weekend and immediately bought one. I normally avoid marked decks because the usual systems annoy me. This thing is lovely. :)

Hi all,

do you need to have the card close to you to read its value and suit ?

Thanks

Depends on your eyesight and the lighting, really. Personally, I don't have any problems reading the cards but some people might as the markings are quite subtle.

But remember this - when performing with a marked deck, the spectators should have no reason to suspect you are using a marked deck. Don't give them a reason to suspect and you have all the time in the world to read the card. It's all in that book I mentioned; there are loads of tips in it on how to perform with a marked deck, what you should and shouldn't be doing. Fantastic book.
