Cheap Web Hosting £1 /year inc domain

Postby krazy ace » Tue Apr 24, 2007 8:41 pm

I've just found this site which offers web hosting for £1 (£1.19 inc vat)

STRATO

they are offering:

4gb web space and 50 gb traffic along with 3 domains.

+there are other options for the same price

i have bought this offer and within one or two days i will post a link to my site.

i think this is a great oppertunity for people starting out who want a website to look professional.

there is one point i think i should mention and that is that the contract is reccuring which means after you one year you willl automatically be charged there normal rate.

i have been "tricked" like this quite a few times and thought that you should know. all you have to do is cancel your agreement a day or two before the thing ends and you get one years web hosting for one £1

Ive had a various sites online for about 3 years now, and from personal knowledge I know that you get what you pay for. I cannot see such a cheep hosting package (and offering as much space/bandwidth) as they are doing to be legitimate as there is no way that they can cover the cost of providing this deal and making a profit - if it is a legitimate offer they look to be making a substantial loss. A typical price for hosting like that would be £6 - £9/month.

I will not be purchasing this hosting, and do not recommend anyone else to. I hope you have a good hosting experience with this company. If something does ever go wrong please be sure to revive this thread, I will be wanting to know of your hosting experience with this company :)

Currently I am hosted with www.eleven2.com and will be moving to www.site5.com next month.

the world is built on trust. you cannot pass a comment on what you see without trying it or have proof.

i have just purchased this alond with five domains and i have recieved confirmation from the royal bank of scotland that this is a legit company.

i will be getting my invoice in a few day and will keep you noted on how things are going

the same can be said for your site

110gb of web space and 5000gb of data transfer for $5 is something companies would dream of. you trusted them and got an amazing deal and so the same is here

You should normally be wary of cheap webhosting. The low-price normally means you aren't getting something that more expensive hosts offer. For instance, there may be little or no support (which becomes a big problem if something goes wrong) or there is support but you must pay for it. There may be more downtime that with other hosts, and problems with the servers aren't dealt with quickly. It's the same with low-budget airlines, you're fine until something goes wrong.

However, STRATO are offering this deal as special promotion. They are a large German webhosting firm, which is moving abroad. The low price is designed to attract UK customers, to establish the company in this country. The offer only lasts until the end of this month and everyone who takes advantage of it must pay the full price if they take it into the second year. They obviously hope that many people will be reluctant to change hosts after their sites have been running a year. It's also possible that they might (like 1&1) make it difficult for people to change hosts.

All in all, you'd probably be happy with the hosting if you take advantage of the offer. But if you do, register your domain with a third party rather than through them.

i beg to differ my site is running well and their custimer service is probibaly the best for any company i've seen. they even submitted my site to 20 search engines for me.

the only thing they don't do is back up your website but i am pleased with everything else they do.

i have contacted them and they allow people to transfer domains and hosting plans to other companies.

i do agree with third party hosting for your domains but if they are giving five domains included a don't see why i should go anywhere else, i know this is only going to last a year but i will make the most of it.

i have also purchased for £3.99 adobe elements and various other programs so my total came to about £5 which i very cheap concidering you are getting the latest adobe progam and many ohters
