Criss Angel...Again!

Postby Zarrow » Thu May 03, 2007 5:31 pm

Readin a lot of posts about Criss (Chris) Angel good & bad, thought i throw this in to the mix and see what peoples thoughts were.

Is it just me or was the Motor bike jump/vanish realy amazing? be it camera trick or stooges, he does have some great effects. This one has me stumped...which is nice.

Ok mind freak is an irritating show sometimes and didnt realy know how to take him at first, the rock star image is a bit off puting but he has grown on me like a leech.
What are other peoples views on this effect?

From what I've read around the forum, a lot of magicians don't like him. That's why I was a little bit surprised to see an ad for his show at the bottom of the forum.

Yes, I think its his character that puts me off..

I know its is style, and he's not as dry as David Blaine, but theres something about him that really makes me uninterested. Maybe now hes working with Sankey he might do something vaguely interesting, who knows..
I thought the grass might be greener on the other side and so bought and Xbox360.. I was right!!

Afew things I have seen him do have been entertaining, but the whole thing, image, audience reaction, etc seems so contrived.

there has only actually been one thing that had me quite amazed...and that was his setting himself on fire stunt...the ending actually had me baffled.

The illusions and camera trickery make his as much a magician as George Lucas.
I get the feeling he is marketed towards American rock-dude types who say 'awesome' a lot and are into bands like Nine Inch Nails. This does not fit my profile so his appeal is lessened to me.
He's a cocky so and so and appears to be rather full of himself. I think personality is a big thing in any sphere of entertainment and if you come across as unlikable, a lot of people will be put off.
He's just the 'latest thing' really and if anything, he'll inspire those bedgraggled grunge kids to put down their guitars for a month or so whilst they order some gimmicked cards and DVD's from Ellusionist.
Cos it's the latest thing.

The thing that makes me mad when I'm watching his shows is that I never know if what he did was just really amazing or if it was just camera trickery. So I never know if I should worship him or hate him. I think his presentation suits him fairly well but I just don't like it.
This is the best signature in the world.
