The Effect

From their site:

The magician asks YOU to select a card.
YOU rip it into four equal pieces.
YOU give three back and keep one yourself.
After a squeeze.....The magician's three pieces vanish - Gone.
In your own wallet, there are the three pieces. No longer torn - restored with one quarter missing. Your piece.

This is a torn and restored card effect that changes direction, cutting loose of all expectation and rationality. CONNECTED has been Peter's closing effect in his close-up routine for years and now it is available to you.
This is not your typical card trick - What you receive is a super indepth tutorial lasting over one hour that'll teach you everything you need to make this amazing routine your own.

"BUY EVERYTHING THIS MAN SELLS!" Justin Miller - Professional magician.

"THIS IS A MUST HAVE! AMAZING!!" Alan Rorrison, Professional Magician

"The method employed in this effect is one of pure genius. The climax is quite possibly like no other that can be created in close up magic." Matthew Winnard, Close-up Champion - 28th New Zealand Magic Convention

"BUY THIS! Very clever Peter..." Cody S Fisher, Professional Magician

"Peter is magic's best kept secret". Greig Barret, Professional Magician

"This is incredible. Thank you for this genius piece of work Peter". Cody Gutcher, Magician

"This is probably the most worthwhile purchase I've made. This effect is that good. I can't stop talking about it. Thanks Peter for such a great effect!" Bryan London, Magician

"All I can say is Wow! Excellent construction, so magical. I can definitely see myself using this. It's a powerhouse effect!" Cameron Francis, Professional Magician

"It's a superb routine. Super subtle miracle - I love it!" David Forrest, Professional Magician

Review

I had been looking forward to this for quite sometime. But as I started to watch the DVD I had a horrible feeling that the effect wasn't going to very good. This feeling was soon put to rest as Connected is amazing!

I should have had more faith originally as I haven't been disappointed by anything Big Blind Media has released so far.

You are taught 2 tricks in this DVD. The first is a trick that gets everything set up.

The second is Connected itself. Watch the trailer on their site. Read the first paragraph in the effect description they give. That is the effect and I think it is amazing. The best part is that just before you reveal the pieces of the torn card have vanished you are clean and everything is done ready for the big ending.

There is some setup to do before you perform the trick but it's not alot. I just went off and did the setup and it took less than 2 minutes.

The teaching on the DVD is very good. The whole effect is broken down in to the basic parts and each is taught separately. You are also taught three different ways to vanish the pieces of the torn card. Owen Packard is there to add input and make sure things aren't left out but Peter does such a good job of teaching the trick that I can't remeber Owen having much input, apart from some jokes.

This is a trick that will require a routine to go with it. You can't perform the first trick directly followed by the second (well technically you could but don't :D). At the end of the DVD Peter gives some tips on setting up a routine for it and what sort of tricks are good to include in it. I thought this was a nice and helpful way to finish off the DVD.

I wanted to add some bad points aswell but I'm having trouble thinking of any.

One thing to remember though is to keep another closing trick ready as a plan B. The first trick serves another purpose of finding out whether the spectator has a wallet and if you discover they don't your going to need something else to finish on!

Overall

I think this is great.

I'll give it a 10/10. I can't find a problem with it.

I hope this gave you what you need to know and I didn't leave anything out. If I did just ask!

Beaten to it!

I just got this DVD today and I thought I would post a review of it tonight, after a viewing or two. I've owned the manuscript for a while now so I already know the effect is a very strong one.

All isn't necessaruly lost if the spec doesn't have a wallet. I've made-do a couple of times with whatever fate has provided.

Oh happy days, I had mine pre-ordered as well so hopefully mine will be waiting in the house ready to enlighten me.

Just one question, I know the effect wouldn't be impromptu but can you do the setup in the house before heading out then perform it pretty easily once set up?

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Thanks for the review! I am really happy you enjoyed the DVD! :)

Wills, the really quick set-up (we say 2 minutes but once you know what you are doing it's more like 40 seconds) can be done in the house and then you are set-up and ready to perform Connected. Hope that helps you out!

Finally got to watch this last night, its a great DVD.

Its one of them effects that you see the method and think so simple yet so effective.

Also I'm happy with the setup, I was a bit worried as I hate them. But its a quick setup that can be done in the house then your good to go.

I'll be keeping an eye on any other material you are bringing out Peter. Keep us informed!!

Trickyricky,

After years of perfecting I can tell you that the signature takes away from the effect. So much so that I didn't bother to teach the signed handling on the DVD which I did teach on the PDF. If you pick up the DVD and would like some tips on signing the card then PM me. But it really does not help the effect. Spectators know that signatures can be copied, even if they don't know when you possibly could have done it... what they have is 100% proof that is far better than a signature, physical proof. They rip the card into four pieces and they keep one piece.

Take it easy,

P.H.
