Don't not get Strong Magic, it's a masterpiece and in far more depth than any other work on the subject.

It's a cheap book that's well worth buying for anyone new to magic. There are no real knockout effects and it goes on a bit in places but it does teach you about presentation and misdirection. It is actually better than some of the expensive books I've bought so I'd recommend to anyone starting out.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. But I note that about 5 years ago i said I ought to get this and it's been sitting on my Amazon Wishlist since then! I was buying one presents last week and saw a copy of this going v. cheap so added it to my cart. It really is a very good book. I wish I'd had it when I was first starting out 25 years or so ago - and that I'd taken some of the advice :-) A cracking little introduction to the most important aspects of magic.

I have a copy that was kindly loaned to me by Rob, the wonderful bloke that he is, and what a great insight it gave me to presentation when I was first starting out, brilliant book!!

Much love

I ended up getting this book and I am pleased to say it was well worth it. The lessons and the format in which it is written is amazing. Coins Through the Table is fantastic and very well taught with subtleties galore. Card in Orange, Sweet Deception, Cord of Shastri and Passing Through are all excellent, with good lessons.
