If looking for information about a specific item, The index should be used "as well as" and not "instead of" the search tool, as there is probably interesting information about the item in other threads/topics.

When searching the index because you wish to write a review yourself, don't necessarily be put of if there is already a review there. Some of the reviews are very brief in which case a better review would be welcome.

If there is already a reasoable review there of the item in question and you have an extra point to make, or wish to add your own feelings about the item, either backing it up or contradicting it - then please don't start a new thread, but instead add your own message to the existing one.

If anyone finds any spurious links, or has any improvement requests or general comments to make about the Reviews Index, then please feel free to pm me.

Due to size constraints of individual messages, the Reviews now extend over two messages...

It is unlikely that it will be updated anytime soon. There are literally 1000's of new reveiws to be added and the process of doing so is probably too time consuming (for now).

A shame I agree.

Why not encourage 'The People' to help by bribing them with something, lol.

No, I only keep the indexes on the review sub-forums updated; that is, books, electronic media and tricks. To my understanding, this main review forum was initially the only one in existence. At a later date, the other sub-forums were introduced in an attempt to organise the reviews. By the time this occurred, there was already many, many reviews in this forum. I have not indexed this forum because, and this is an estimate, I reckon there are about 1,500 reviews currently in this forum! As you can imagine, indexing these reviews is truly a mammoth task. Bananafish attempted to do it but I believe he did not have the time to keep it updated regularly due to the amount of reviews that were coming in. I can't say I blame him, it was a truly ambitious task.

Anyway, the mods are steadily moving reviews from this thread over to the appropriate sub-forums. This in itself is a huge task, never mind indexing the whole lot! As they are moved across, I add them to the relevant index. Not sure how well I've explained that, but that's the situation as I see it. Hope that helps.
