Well, apparently my other reviews have already been done. My apologies. I did search this one and no reviews came about. So, here we go.

Book Name: They're Off
By: Frank Lane with help from U.F. "Gen" Grant

Types of tricks found in this book:
- Impromptu
- Hankerchief
- Grand illusions
- Card Magic
- Comedy Magic

Some of these tricks can be performed on the street, some cannot. Either way, many of these are very impressive. Some are variations, some are not as familiar to others.
Below is a list of tricks & illusions found in this book;

- The Boomerangs - Very nice comedy routine with a continuous effect that has the spectators laughing and scratching their heads. Is possible to perform several times for different audiences.
- Reading Cards - Nice trick but requires spectator to be in darker area than performer, so not always suitable for street magic.
- A New Impromptu Reading Trick - Number trick where magician must be good at mathetmatics.
- Another Impromptu Table Trick - Very nice restaurant trick where angles may be a problem. Can be done with various small objects.
- A Hankerchief Vanish - Ungimmicked hankerchief vanish developed by Arthur Monroe.
- The Lindberg Kidnap Ladder - Trick designed for a group of people at a restaurant.
- A Comedy Hankerchief Routine - Chameleon Hankerchief Trick variaton with gimmick.
- The Card and the Cigarette - Impromptu trick that can be changed so it may be performed on a spectator at random.
- Now Back to the Cards - Amazing impromptu mentalist magic with a deck of cards -- difficult to comprehend and should be familiar with sleights.
- Beans From Boston - Nice effect but very angle sensitive and arises high suspicion with spectator. Must have very good misdirection abilities.
- Now We'll Show You - Card trick using knife. Must be good with card magic.
- How Would You Like A Gag? - Nice prank but must be able to run quickly.
- A Ring Trick, But No Bell - Impromptu trick performed with a lady's ring.
- A Gag and a Banana - Possibly impressive to children and gullible people.
- Back to the Farm - Very impressive trick ideal for any situation and not angle-sensitive.
- Out Pocket Fire Bowl - Very nice impromptu fire trick using a hankerchief.
- Another Card Trick - Impromptu card trick ideal for street magic or 1-1.
- An Impromptu Poker Deal - Magician deals out all 4 aces face-down even after spectator cuts the deck and chooses who gets which face-down cards.
- A Trick With a Monocole - Hankerchief penetrates glass (i.e. KAOS is card thru window, this is hankerchief thru glass).
- The Folding Half Dollar - Piece of wood becomes a pile of money infront of spectator's eyes.
- Don't Get Mad Now - Impromptu 4 aces trick
- A Trick From a Little Shot - Trick using BB shots. Relies on psychological stuff of spectator.
- A Sweetheart - Very convincing trick that is not very angle sensitive with little suspicion.
- Why Didn't I Think of This Before? - Very nice trick to be done anywhere. Gimmick is easy to create and easily removed before inspection.
- The Chinese Bottle Trick - Impromptu trick that is similiar to coin penetrating a glass.
- An Easy Colour Change - Colour change that is more of a practice but a nice impromptu trick.
- The Piles - Impromptu very convincing card trick that is very easy despite how complex it appears.
- Behind the Spectator's Back - Easy impromptu card trick with fantastic results.

This book does not contain any coin magic, however, several of these tricks can be done with any small objects, especially coins.

The descriptions inside this book are sometimes unclear. They are rather informal as if someone were teaching you 1-1. This eliminates any technical terms if someone doesn't know the name of a sleight.

The book includes few illustrations. The illustrations are mainly used for the ladder trick and any hankerchief tricks.

This book does include a recommended patter at the end or during the explanation of a trick. This is especially good for those who have poor misdirection skills or beginners unsure of misdirection and patter.

Overall, many of these tricks are very easy. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being easiest (self-working) and 10 being the hardest (insane), most of these score around 2 to 3. Any gimmicks that are needed are available in most places, such as hardware stores and cost no more than $10. Most should be at anyone's house, so it is unlikely you'll need to buy them.

Since a scale of 1-5 is used here for difficulty instead of 1-10, I rank them as 1.5-2.5. The tricks using gimmicks are very easy. Some have unclear explanations and must be read several times but are easy. A few require some sleights that are around intermediate level for cards.

These are tricks suitable for people searching for tricks to expand their repetoire and incorporate comedy magic.
