hey,

1. Does it include a gimmick?
2. When the stem bends while in the spectators hands, is that an optical illusion or is it actually bending? Ex.(PK silverware) tine bends..it givesthe illusion it bends from the motion of the hand. Is this like that ortruly BENDS?
3. Why is refraction expensive? is it the gimmick? why?
4. How far can the glass bend?
5. Is it possible to borrow the wine glass and perform imediately, or do ineed a set up(how long is setup-- can it be done infront of the audience)? 6. Can i perform refraction and proceed to doing the Telekenisis for dinner?(its when the wine glass shatters by thought)

thanks!

As mention in the other thread where you asked these questions, it would be exposure to answer some of them so suggest you aim the same questions at the sites who sell Refraction.

How are you all getting along with this - those that have performed Refraction in a real performance?

I've performed a few time now and have to say that I haven't had any issues at all and it's blown them away. Each occasion I've performed after liquid metal which has been a personal favourite for some time and gets great reactions on it's own. I do the business when they are examining the fork which when handed out diverts everyones attention and then I get them back when I'm ready and go straight into refraction.

I love this combination!

I perform this at every gig since i brought it, alongside my fork bending and coin bending, and its absolutley awesommmeeeeeeeee....

Gets a killer reaction, and its nice to then put the bent fork and coin in the wine glass and let the spec keep the lot as a weird piece of art/objetc.........

Mr Penn out did himself here.........

hey, for this effect.

can the prepared wine glass be sitting on the table for about 10-15min. before starting to perform?
or do i have to set it up and peform ASAP?

is there anything that i would be needing to get spearately to perform this?

Frymus

If you're that interested then just buy it. It's not that expensive for such a great effect. You're just fishing for clues to piece together so that you can find out the secret of this effect - or so it appears

Click on the refraction link underneath these posts and you'll see a video clip of it being performed. If you want to perform this then just buy it and practice. As simple as that!

Have you tried contacting the shops who sell this as suggested?

All I can say is buy it and you won't be disappointed. There isn't anything to worry about, as all of your concerns are addressed on the dvd. You need ONE other 'thing' to complete this, but you (or your father) is likely to have one anyway. And if not, they aren't very expensive.

The only thing I would point out is that the glass can't have been in use, ie. have liquid in it. It needs to be an empty glass.

(I suppose you could go the extra mile to make it work, but it's unneccessary)

Out of all the questions you had none are left out and/or they are indirectly explained.

Earlier this evening and out of the blue I received a phone call from David Penn and spent a good 30 minutes talking about ideas for Refraction. I won't share with you as he didn't say it would be OK to do so but it's apparent that he reads TM.

What I'll say is that it goes to show that with a little imagination it shouldn't be too difficult to work out a good number of different methods of presenting the glass.

David was saying that he's receiving emails from some people who have bought the DVD, given it ONE spin and then emailed him to question whether it will work.

Like so many other things, you have to have the balls to get out and perform magic rather than speculate about it. Nuff said

I have also now (for those of you who have Refraction) started also bending the wine bottle aswell.....If peeps are interested in hearing the rouitne format please PM.....

There are certain wine bottle makes that are perfect for this as some are already pre bent, thus not distorting the bottle x

Have ordered this today. As I use an upturned wine glass for communicating with the spirits in the seance room (glass moving), I am quite excited about the prospects of incorporating this effect. Perhaps not how the originator of the trick imagined it being used, but hey - I think it might work beautifully!

I really like that idea Paul, it will give a really strong finish to your séance.

I converted Hank Lee's 'Crash' into an Ouija board and end with the glass shattering!

If you are performing a séance having a strong ending is essential and your idea will certainly do that Paul.
