Hoorah!

Mine finally turned up yesterday (depsite being ordered quite a number of days back  ).

It came at the discounted price mentioned previously, but I'm guessing TheMagicGadget.co.uk only had old stock, as mine came with the single, miniscule orange instructions.

Not a problem, per se, but I can see why poor old Mandrake found it so dificult to read

My first thoughts are that this is a very, VERY nice effect - stunningly-visual on the final reveal, which takes place in a split-second.

However, I am somewhat baffled by one part of the instructions; the bit that referrs to a 'smear', whereby you show the two kings immediately prior to the transposition.

I see that Jon hasn't posted here for quite some time, so was wondering if anybody hereabouts could drop me a PM about this?

Also, I noticed that Seige has mentioned a set-up for ending totally clean - I'd love to see that buddy, if you spot this little ditty :D

I'll hold off on giving this a final review/rating for now, until I can get my little issue cleared-up.

Rob...

I don't remember the 'smear' bit at all! PM me the context, and I'll try fill you in. Oh, and I'll give you the gist of the clean-end too.

Got mine

Postby Trickyfied » Sep 3rd, '07, 23:13

:D I got my one today, I will be spending some time with the instructions as I need to read over these kind of instructions many many times to get it, one part I did get was 'the smear' so Rob, I am sure you worked this out, but to smear is to squeeze and slide the top dl to the side, hope that makes some sense, drop me a pm if you like. It is the ONLY part that I have understood after skim reading it an hour ago. If any one can summerise the instructions in form of a pm, that would be real helpful

Postby Trickyfied » Sep 11th, '07, 17:19

Is there a video link of anyone performing this? I am struggling with the instructions and if I watched the effect I would get it straight away. Thanks 8)

Sorry to hog this post but I felt this was worth sharing. I could not 'get it' by reading the instructions, I know what an elmsley count is and how to do a double turnover etc but I could not follow, this is not me having a go at the instructions, I am simply not a man that learns by reading. I watched the link that 808 posted and 'bam!' I got it :P the only problem I have now is the cards are so sticky i cannot smear them at all. I will have to work hard to 'un stickyfy' it.

sorry for bringing back an old thread, but i just got this trick the other day and didn't want to start a whole new thread, because i might get told off for not using the search function?!?

anyway, in the instructions it says you can use repositional ***e if need be. can anyone recommend anything they have used?

I don't understand why people apologise for reviving old threads; I don't see what the big deal is. As you say, the alternative is to start a new thread and then get told off for not using the search button. So no need for apologies!

After all that, I can't even answer your question - sorry. :?

Double Back is nothing short of brilliant and it'll be around for decades yet! Anyway, the stuff you need is called Changin' Glue and one of the many places to get it from is http://www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk/

Double Back would be top of my picks for "Desert Island Packet Effects". It is a stunningly visual effect and BLOWS peoples minds.

It would be great to perform silently to the haunting music from "The Elephant Man".

Weave THAT spell right and the spectators will actually GASP.

If we can hit that bullseye then the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... Checkmate!

What I use is a DS tape used in the web printing business and newspapers. It holds secuely and when it finally wears out you just rub it off and apply a new piece. This is without a doubt one of the most visual pieces of magic ever. When done in the spectators hands the reaction is startling. If you don't have this, get it.
Cheers

i got that changin' glue and it works like a dream, but i think i put to much on, i can't slide them apart no more, i have to pull at them. Hopefully i can wear it away and it will settle.
